I have been involved in MMA and BJJ for about 12 years now. I have just
started managing 4 fighters and I am looking to work with others. The
fighters I work with now are out of my gym in Wisconsin. I have been
talking to a few good managers and promoters just to get advice but I
was wondering if the UG has any helpful advice for me? I am really
excited about this - working on a website and a promo DVD. If there is
anyone lurking here that could offer any advice at all I would be happy to
listen.
They money is now equal more or less between sponsorships and purses, if not weighted towards sponsorships, so a lot of your effort should be directed there.
thank you guys for the helpful posts and the ttts! Its funny because I
run an mma and bjj school but I really have not embraced the
popularity of MMA until now. It was just gettijnjg so annoying having
people call me everyday asking about being fighters and promoters
calling me and I never really got anything about it. Now that I am
actually trying it is really exciting :)
Kirik I appreciate the Tip on sponsorship - I think I might look around
for someone that will do a Team sponsorship to start with,

Keep your guys ready at all times. Sometimes the best opportunities come on shorter notice. I agree with Chad and Kirik as well. Also, put everything in WRITING.
so any good fighters out there need management? I spent the last
several weeks talking to venues and introducing myself now I have venues
all over looking for fights but I only have a few fighters :)
