Fighters that don't use weights?

If Carlos Newton says he never lifted he's full of shit. You don't get his physique doing body weight exercises unless you are a full time gymnast, and even then it's hard to get descent legs. He may not lift like a bodybuilder, but he's touched an olympic bar a time or 2.

Kos doesn't lift.  Fedor doesn't lift.  Anderson lifts a little.  GSP has cut down on most of his raw weight lifting in favor of plyos and BW exercises with added weights (not true "Weight training)

guys we're all smart here.  Weights dont give you a "physique" they stress your muscles.  What you eat gives you the "physique".  So long as you stress your muscles and eat a certain way, you'll get shredded/built.  Not everyone believes in taking precious time away from your training schedule to hit the iron.

BTW Kos is probably the most impressive raw athlete in mma

Lyoto uses a smith machine!  LMAO

It is as simple as that; but for some reason or another, people like to make it complicated!

Of course some people tend to see results much faster than others (good genetics); and those people can have a dream about doing 100 sit ups, and they will wake up with a six pack.

Weights are a category of resistance training. Are there any fighters who don't do resistance training?

subwrassler - Does Anderson lift?

When he goes up to 205 he does

Last video of Fedor's training, that I've seen, had him doing bench press in a park.

Baroni bicep curl FTW.

Looks like Fedor does some lifting here to me. Pictures from http://www.emelianenkofans.com. Sorry for being a mud btw, maybe someone can post the pics?

But wrestling around with people constantly and doing MMA stuff won't?

You can look at old pics of the elite wrestlers from a hundred years ago, b4 we had modern lifting, and several of them had similar builds (or better).

they prolly all do weight training but with different goals than avg person at the gym. from what little i've seen the mma type weight training emphasizes high reps with little to no rest and more core and explosive mvts. avg gym go'ers will start with a few sets of bench press and lat pull downs with some rest in between while watching espn (or the girls that do like 100 reps of lateral leg raises followed by 50 reps of hamstring curls with 5lbs)

Bullshit that Fedor doesn't lift.

Also Newton has stated he doesn't lift weights but he did push ups, pull ups and dips with a WEIGHT vest on. That's still lifting weights people.

wrong. You can get that body from bodyweight training.Just ask herschel Walker, and all those guys in prisons, that dont have weight rooms. Its the diet that gives you the ripped shredded body. You can do it with bodyweight

Weights are incorporated into several stages of Fedor/Alex's circuit training!?! I thought everyone saw the videos?

"its the diet that gives you the ripped shredded body"

to a point yes but its mostly GENETICS that will give you a ripped/shredded body...i know many people that have their diets down to clockwork and yet they dont look anything like Newton..thats genetics..Rampages strength is genetics..those guys in prison, their size and strength is genetics period, end of story...

this guy doesn't lift weights at all. he was pretty sucessful.

Fighters often say they don't lift weights

sort of off the subject but I've heard that the reason guys get so big and strong in prison is the excess of testosterone in the environment.

The same way that when a bunch of chicks live together their monthly cycles begin to sync up and the all get their periods at the same time.

I have heard that being in a males only environment where testosterone levels are high in the general population tends to spark increased testosterone production, like the bodies natural strive to stay dominant.

Cause you know it's not their diets, nobody is trading cigarettes for Myoplex.

Prisons have weights and guys weight lift a lot in prison. Its all they have to do.
