You sometimes see a guy trapped under mount getting pounded and apparently trying to give the top guy an arm to end the fight, but the top guy doesn't take the arm and keeps pounding away. If the guy on the bottom can't escape and the ref won't call the fight, I don't see how this is any different than tapping to an armbar.
