If Melendez loses to Pettis it might be tough. He would he 1-2 in the UFC with 2 title fights.
Having said that, I still think he beat Bendo and I think he will beat Pettis. 
its why I sometimes hate the quick rematch because it creates these types of situations sometimes too early in a fighters career

I am with you on the Bendo fight but I have trouble seeing Melendez handling Pettis. If Melendez is standing with Pettis for any extended period, he is going to get beat up badly. Pettis has Melendez on reach, skills, athleticism, and quickness. Melendez could try to Guida him, but I am certain Pettis has improved his defensive wrestling and I doubt he can hold him down for 5 rounds.
