Every champ has a head coach that directs things. Never realized that before. 
Rich Franklin. He was his best with Hume, but was only with him for a short time. Held him back just like BJ (in terms of not having a coach). 
Another important point from the list of champs above is that all those guys were with the same team/coach either from the start or throughout the majority of their career. I think this is makes a big difference too rather than jumping around from place to place to gain some slight advantage but sacrificing your overall preparation.
I think someone needs to confirm this Shogun does not have a headcoach and hasnt had 1 business first. Fruhz, Shogun's former manager rejected that claim on that thread. Not sure if its the current or long term situation he was refuting though but theres a lot of misinfo on the UG, lets not forget.
