Fights in Chicago last night?

Werent there fights in Chicago last night? I was thinking they were Schirmer's maybe? I could be wrong, but info would be great.

Did Derrick Noble fight?

derrick noble faught to a majority draw (1 judging against him)

how did brian gassaway do?

Yeah, it was Schirmer's event. He did an awesome job of putting it together! Hopefully another is in the works.

Terry had his ass handed to him? I disagree. While he didn't dominate the entire time, I wouldn't put a rumor out that he was beaten that badly for any length of time.

Brian Gassaway didn't put up his best performance, and lost the match.

I've been to lots of events before, and never saw so many fighters roll or get punched out of the ring so much. It really was a big problem, not so much in the beginning with a different guy ref'ing, but at least three bouts the audience in ringside seats found themselves with fighters landing on them. As someone said above, one of the fights ended within a minute of Tommy Leo getting hurt from landing wrong.

I still think that a ring is better than a cage. Unless it is as big as the UFC's cage. Im not trying to knock the XFO (which is a great fight organization), but they have a smaller cage and at the end of the round you cant get to your fighter and all you can do is just throw him a bottle of water over the cage to him. Sometimes with the cage it obstructs the view. With a ring its more open and you can see more.

Anyway, all around great fights and a great show

Romez weighed in at 178lbs Derrick weighed in at 176 lbs. Romez is extremely cut and looks bigger than what he weighs. They had a good fight. My comments after the fight was that I would hate to call that one. The judges saw it the same way calling it a draw. The match between Jerry Speigel and Terry was hard to watch I probably would have stopped it earlier Jerry took alot of knees to the body and head.Jerry later was on the dance floor not marked up very much,he is one tough guy and he will be asked back for our september event. The Ring verse cage debate is a good one and we should get a concensus on this. Jason made good points about visibility.Maybe add a couple of lower ropes or more cross threads. The fight over all was a huge successs the place was packed and we will be looking for a much bigger stadium in Sept.

I didn't actually fall through the ropes, but was forced out when Charles jumped through the ropes to avoid being choked. I had locked up a rear naked choke and to avoig tapping out he jumps through the ropes causing us to fall outside the ring and hit my eye on the ringside table. Everytime I have faught before if you jump outside the ring to avoid a submission that is considered a submission.

Tommy

from my ringside view, i believe what happened in the tommy lee fight was that his opponents leg got snagged in the ropes and he tripped through the ropes. i'd have to see the video, but that's how it seemed to me.

totally unfortunate cus both guys looked ready to bring it, and tommy had a great takedown to start off.

i smell rematch.

luvmachine vs tommy lee

No, I am not that crazy to punk Tito. He's just a little bigger than me. HA!HA!

Timmy, luvmachine got banned here. However his new nickanme at the school is Napoleon Dynamite.

Gaaawwwwd!

A cage is more safe hands down ! Rings were made for boxing. NO take downs or rolling around on the canvas. Just stand up fighting.
There is nothing to contain you in the ring. Also the rule of jumping, rolling, or crawling out of the ring to avoid a submission has not been enforced. This is not WWF. This is real fighting and someone can get killed or seriously injured falling out of the ring. What surprised me at this show when Tommy Lee was hurt from Charles Barron escaping the ring to avoid a rear choke was that it was called a no contest and the doctor left the decision to continue the fight up to the cornerman. This is after the doctor recomended that he goes to the hospital after the fight. That's why medical staff are there to ensure the safety of the fighters and advise the participants when it is not safe to continue the bout. I guess we are still fine tuning the sport here. Keep it up Tommy you were beating his ass and ready to finish. In a cage Tommy Lee win and no one gets hurt.

I also believe in a cage Terry Martin would would have his second loss. Jerry Speigel was ready to submit Terry with a heel hook but Terry made his way out of the ring.

Way to go for Renzo Gracie and his 205# Jerry Speigel taking a last minute fight against local champ Terry Martin. I was told that the Gilbert Grappling Team after all the Tommy Lee drama; Dan Gilbert and John Gorecki still cornered Jerry. Jerry for sure took a beating but he also covered up a lot. The KO was called 2 seconds before the end of the round. Jerry is one tough dude. I heard Renzo Gracie and Joey Gilbert became good friends back in Abu Dhabi when Abu Dhabi was in Abu Dhabi. Maybe there is a alliance in the future?

If the ropes are tight on a ring, a ring is just as safe to fight in and in my opinion provides a faster, more entertaining fight.

Tell me about Bart Palaszewski's fight. He and I will be fighting March 19th in the next XFO for the 155 title!

I'm happy to see he won and I hope he came away injury free....Joe Jordan

Overall I thought the show was good. Nick Thompson had a great fight. My fight was less than impressive and I am a little dissapointed aobut my performance. THe guy I fought was a little bigger than me, he weighed 189 the night of the fight, I was still around 176. I beleive even though I didn't give my best performance that I won the fight. at best it was a draw, but I can't see how one judge gave him the fight, but that is the way it goes when you don't finish. Hopefully I'll get back in the ring soon

Although I wasnt judging I was keeping score. I had Noble winning the second and third round. I also had the Herc fight as a draw (even though he lost).

the herc fight was only two rounds and event though I thought that the other guy was a better fighter overall, Herc did win the second round.
