I think Filho is done in MMA, honestly. I can't recall EVER seeing a high level fighter perform that badly. Can anyone here think of a consensus top 4 fighter, who some considered the #2 in the world at his weight, ever EVER looking so terrible in a fight?
He couldn't have beaten TUF contestants the way he fought tonight. That was unspeakably awful. Sonnen's stand up is mediocre and Filho somehow makes him look like roy jones jr. He tried to go all cocky and his fat ass was too slow to move out of the way of a slow jab. His takedowns were slwo and telegrahed and in all seriousness he would've been destroyed by several contestants on last year's MW TUF.
Whatever is going on in his life, he might just be done. How could he possibly have run up a 16-0 record and been so acclaimed and then just have his ability plummet like a rock. It's sad, because if I had to guess I'd guess he'll never win an important fight again. I hope he works things out, clearly fighting is the last thing he needs to think about. His addiction problems + weight problems + seeing jesus + crazy pills = cooked fighter.
he has issues right now, who's to say he wont overcome and be the best ever?
you see, fighters in general, they are fucked up people. (lord knows I am).
Its like how abused women become strippers.

+1
Yeah, he was blocking those punches w/ his head.
Even tho alot of those punches weren't thrown w/ intent.
Amir Sadollah would have beat him imo. Filho's game plan seemed to be
1. Terrible takedown attempt
2. Roll into guard via failed TD.
3. Wait
4. Repeat
He looked atrocious
He didn't look himself against Doerkson or Sonnen the last time either though
He's a shadow of the aggressive powerful beast he was in Pride, it's sad to see

Not only would Amir have beaten him tonight, he would have finished him. I think Filho looked completely out of sorts and bored. But not to be disrespectful, but how could Sonnen not finish that fight. He seemed so upset about promising his father the title and whatnot and then did enough to win, but never really went balls out trying to finish an obviously diminished Filho.
Whatever was wrong with him, is sad to see....as a fighter it is very hard to fight MMA when fighting inner demons. Just cause hes out of rehab doesnt mean he has been rehabilitated. I hope Paulo overcomes whatever it may be and come back stronger.
how could Chael not finish him?
filho hasn't performed impressively ever since leaving pride.
to put it bluntly, he has looked like shit ever since then.
on top of that, he doesn't seem to take this sport seriously whatsoever. i don't get it.
pitefull! Anti depressant might be it.
Chael didn't finish his last opponent either, which he beat by 30-24!
Maybe he simply fights "not to loose" nowdays.
Sad thing is that Sonnen is first guy to beat Filho...
Especially with that kind of performance.
Looks like another Mark Kerr IMO
What are you guys talking about? That was one of the best light sparring sessions I've ever seen.
Filho was a shadow of his former self and not into it. Yet despite all that Sonnen was unable to finish him or really hurt him.
As bad as Sonnen looked, i thought he was going to win a couple round 10-8 because Filho literally landed no punches. None.
I sat down for this fight hoping to see Chael beat him down. By the end of round 2 I was just glad it was only a 3 rounder. Filho's heart is gone and Sonnen can obviously fight DOWN to anyone's level.
Horrible non-fight.
who cares? He was done a long time ago!
It was ridiculous how that fight went, even Sonnen looked like he new the outcome and was carrying Filho, he coulda finished him whenever he wanted to, he looked like he was sparring with him, fucking horendous
