I have applied for my permit and it should be ready in 20 business days. Anyone finish their basement without a permit? What are the side effects of not obtaining one? What if i get caught working on my basement before my permits ready?
Oh so many questions.

I'm finishing my basement without permits.  You can't list it as part of the finished Square footage of the house if you didn't do the work with permits.   

The consequences for starting work without the permits is dependent on how big of a asshole your inspector is.

You should be fine if there's egress or if it's a walkout. Otherwise when you sell it could become an issue

Wrong the only way that it can be listed on the square footage is if it has a entrance to the out side. Permits do not matter in adding to square footage.
