But did that stop Rome from actually educating himself and learning something? No, in fact, he took it upon himself to become a bigger ass on the issue.
Ignoring what had been said by both parties on his program, Rome read a pre-written (before the show) statement that he did not modify or change, whatsoever, before he got on the air. Here's some of the unfortunate lines that Rome had to say:
"My thoughts on the UFC? Is it a sport? Absolutely not. It's a freak show. Is it deplorable? Absolutely. Should the government ban the event? No. Look, if there are people who want to participate in and watch human cockfighting, so be it. If they don't care, why should I care if some loser wants to get his face rubbed up against the steel grate. Of course it's dangerous and barbaric and certainly there are more noble ways to make a living than eye-gouging and fishhooking your fellow man. It's dispicable. In fact, the one thing that scares me more than the fighters themselves is the fact that there is an audience demanding to see this."
Ridiculous . If Rome takes this gig , he's just going where the wind is blowing . Was cool to hate on mma for awhile but after the 4 billion sale douce bags like Rome want in on the gravy train
lol @ MMA not being a sport. It's the ultimate sport
Of course MMA is a sport, but he said UFC, not MMA. Like someone said above, UFC is sports entertainment. They would go a long way toward credibility as a sport in itself if they adhered to independent rankings as a means of scheduling title shots and had a no nonsense policy on PEDs.
