is this weekend. I am feeling a bit more anxiety than usual for a number of reasons. Two biggest are:
1) Afraid of hurting it again.
2) Just promoted so I am in a higher division.
I really just want to go in, fight hard, and not have people high fiving each other when they see I am their opponent. Usually I am anxious and excited for shiai, but this time it is mostly just anxiety. Any mental tips? I really thought this would pass by now.
Thanks, Pete
I say just fight hard and have fun. ANd dude I really laughed out loud at "and not have people high fiving each other when they see I am their opponent."
lol
Hey Pete, its me Dom. I remember being injured plenty of times in wrestling and feeling the exact same way you did. The thing with wrestling is we are competeting all the time, so you have to get over injuries fast. The best thing to do is not think about it at all. Its all mental blocks thats causing you to feel nothing but anxiety. Once you finally get into your head that youre not injured anymore, it will be fine. Just stop thinking about it, and let things flow like they normally would. I would suggest watching some grappling events that get you pumped up or watching something that gets you eager to grapple. Maybe a Judo highlight? I like to watch the ADCC Highlight from Mirada....always gets me going..lol
Yeah, honestly, that's how I feel. I always tell our kids to just fight hard and attack. Doesn't matter if you win or lose just make sure they don't want to match up with you again. I don't care if people think I suck or am a scrub or whatever, but I just don't ever want to be seen as an easy out.
Obviously, I go and want to win. But, shiai and camp is where I meet most of the people from the area and it makes it easier to get people to come down and train, which we need to do more of, if they think I am not a big wimp.
Thanks Dom. See you tonight.
