Any hints, tips, do's, don'ts?
Try a few types of classes to see what you like best. I started with a human paladin and it seemed boring, but then the kid set up a human mage and it was much more fun.
I did that for a bit and then went with a hunter, which kicks ass for a first timer. After level 10, you can solo a lot with your pet and not get creamed all the time. I'm up to almost level 33 now and love it.
I got a guide to help me find the quests and tell me where to go, which is a real bonus.
I just finished playing for the night and it's way past my bedtime, so I'll stop here.
The game STARTS at 80... you really won't know what you are dealing with until you are there
I would suggest breaking them into 3 sections, Melee, Caster, or Healer... figure out which you like best.
Diversity is the name of the game ... end game
Don't post on this forum about it or read about it... Enjoy it for the adventure at first, because i assure you end game is all about finding every fucking peice of information and detail about the game that is relavent to your character.

After that though, buy one of my toons in the other thread.
Roll a hunter. Stay off the forums, don't download any add ons and enjoy the game you luck bastard.

Also, turn off trade chat
The part that the game doesn't start until 80 is bullshit. Just enjoy yourself and have fun playing. Don't read most of the crap here because that's what the vast majority is--crap.
Once you hit 80, then ask some questions, or if you hit a few snags.
1. Roll a warlock or a priest.
2. Do mining and skinning until 80
3. Level your first aid
4. Don't buy anything at the AH
5. Sell everything at the AH
5. Do lots of instances to learn your role.
6. Don't re-roll if your class gets nerfed because the class you reroll to will get nerfed too, etc.
He will die of boredom if he rolls a priest right off lol
Warlock is a good choice also

you can quote me on that
CDO - Do not play alliance.

This
roll a druid.
1-20 will suck, but after you get cat form its cake. does everything well, caster dps, heals, melee dps, tanking and has stealth.
Don't ask advice, just fuck around and have fun.
WoW becomes less fun the more you know, until 80.
play on the newest server possible
FloridaStriker - He will die of boredom if he rolls a priest right off lolYeah it's pretty brutal at first, but it's amazing once you get a few levels under your belt. I can honestly say that the priest was the easiest class I've leveled. Shadow after 50 with VT is sick beyond words, and I got constant invites to heal instances. I barely quested in outlands with all of the DKs needing heals I wore BoP instance blues from 58-68. It kind of died down a little in northrend but shadow leveling is pretty damn sick, and leveling a priest in AV is awesome. You stand in the back and heal and collect HKs.
Warlock is a good choice also
But if you're not interested in heals, definitely go warlock.
I rolled undead priest. It was hard as hell until level 15. Now Im doing OK. I really love the priest and cant wait until i can take shadow form.
And yeah people are inviting me to go to instances alot already. I have turned them down cause im new and intimidated, and I read the healer is really important and takes all the blame if you lose.
But yeah, priest is awesome.
roll Alliance. Don't roll priest. Enjoy the ride. The game gets stale at 80.
Boys, the next level is 40 for Eidelweiss, my dwarven alliance huntard.
I have the choicest mail armour ready to wear and am going to crush every goddamn person in Azeroth, northrend, that other horde place and all other points on the map now and coming with future expansions. I have my scorpion, my cat and my wolfy, who's been with me since level 10.
The game is a blast, but I still suck. I learn something new every time I play and didn't know how to get the goddamn leatherworking going until I checked on the interwebz. Turns out it's in your spells - stupid me for not checking. I go to Goldshire or some other lowly place every now and again to grind light leather so I can get that up to snuff.
I've been invited to quite a few guilds, but am still mostly solo. Partly because my schedule in real life is all over the place and partly because this is my first roll and I'm still enjoying just exploring the world. I can't believe I haven't played until now.
Mark my previous words though, by this time next year I will be able to crush all of you motherless horde bastards.
Cheers,
Winnson (lvl 39 huntard (Eidelweiss), lvl 15 mage (Catie), lvl 11 paladin (Winnson))
