                    <p>Jon Fitch is ranked No. 2 in the world. He has a record of 23-3-1 record, with a tough decision loss to GSP his sole loss during a six year tenure at the UFC.</p>

To get his title shot, Fitch won 16 fights in a row. After the decision loss to GSP, he put together five more wins in a row, including two against top 10 opponents, which brought him back up to #1 contendership in the eyes of many. His reward was a fight vs BJ Penn at UFC 127, and that one went to a draw.

Now, instead of a long-hoped for rematch with GSP, Fitch is set to fight Johny Hendricks at UFC 141 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.

So why has Fitch yet to be granted a rematch?

“I really have no idea,” Fitch told MMAWeekly Radio’s Weekend crew recently. “No one’s every come to speak to me about doing anything wrong or right or whatever, so I’m completely clueless."

“I have no idea what’s expected of me to get the title shots. No one’s ever come to me and said they don’t like what I’m doing or I need to do more of something else. I’m utterly and completely clueless in that regard.”

“I’m living for the fights. That’s what I love. I don’t think there’s anybody out there who I can’t beat. If I’m in shape and healthy and my timing is on, there’s nobody in the world I can’t beat.”

“My goals are: one, to win the welterweight belt; two, avenge my loss to GSP; and three, I would like to move up some day and challenge Anderson (Silva) if he’s still around and undefeated, just because that’s the kind of person I am."

“I want to challenge the best. I want to go up against the best. I want to prove to everybody that I’m the best.”

Fitch is a smart guy so I am sure he knows why. He is the only fighter on earth that can make Thiago Alves, Chris Wilson, Ben Saunders and Diego Sanchez have boring fights. I am sure he can even make a Nick Diaz or Carlos Condit fight boring. Which is hilarious considering that he is the last guy to make GSP fight exciting.

Watching paint dry is more entertaining than watching your fights in the eyes of most fans and you know this Jon. You have zero marketability and couldn't draw flies to a septic tank. You could go 10-0 in your next 10 fights, but as long as you keep dry humping marketable fighters out of contention you'll continue to live in relative obscurity.



The fact of the matter is Zuffa doesn't make fights they can't market and a Fitch fight simply isn't marketable.

 It's amazing to me that he Doesn't know. Why should he get an immediate rematch for the title after getting a draw with a small WW? He's lucky that doesn't count against him in a bigger way.

It has to be very frustrating not being able to come to grips with not getting an earned shot because of all the true aforementioned reasons, but, I don't believe him when he says he doesn't know.

what did fitch do against gsp in their first fight to make anybody think he has a chance to win in a rematch. did he show anything? has he evolved since then? if you look at anytime a fighter gets a rematch against against an opponent, it was probably because there was at least some element in that fight to make one think that the loser would have some semblance of a chance in a rematch.

his last fight was a draw with BJ, who GSP destroyed. gotta do better than that...finish some top guys (instead of boring decisions to guys who aren't top guys) and i could see him easily getting a rematch.


in all honesty, maybe he needs to train at another camp to develop a real offensive weapon...
