is this seminar open to everyone to include Relson students?
politics blow!
Yes, MrBayshen, it is.
The seminar is OPEN to everyone interested, no matter what school/academy, or style, you train with. That is unless an individual is, or individuals are, disrespectful during the event.
IMO Xande put it best, in an interview about training with rivals or future opponents.
auryte!!! btw, what exactly did Xande say?
I heard that guys at Gracie barra HNL are getting promoted fast. they must be winning all the tournaments
spliffmood - I heard that guys at Gracie barra HNL are getting promoted fast. they must be winning all the tournaments
what does that have to do with the seminar?
Super Duper Fast!
Oh my gosh!
j/k, I didn't hear anything yet...other than a troll here and there.
Oh wait there was one the other day. This might be considered manini by some, but receiving a 1-stripe still means something. Some people are coming along much faster than others.
I too thought people had to win tournaments to get promoted as well...but I've been learning that winning doesn't automatically equate to a promo. Not winning has it's merit too.
redhanded -spliffmood - I heard that guys at Gracie barra HNL are getting promoted fast. they must be winning all the tournaments
what does that have to do with the seminar?
Might be a inquiry to secret jiu jitsu moves being taught there. lmao. Like that new Rickson guard for MMA that's been the rave. Which one? I dunno...it's a secret.

Some of our guys ARE getting promoted pretty fast. I think its mainly because they come to us after having trained at various other academies and have had, in some cases, years of BJJ experience already.
Also, some of the guys have been training no gi exclusively for some time and as we all know, there are no belt promotions in no gi. Now that they have made the transition to gi, their skill level is already pretty good and they progress faster than someone who has just started.
As far as needing to win all of the tournaments in order to get promoted, if that were the case, there'd only be a few dozen colored belts on the island and a thousand white belts.
Just my two cents.
i agree with BMFL about people getting promoted fast. most of the students there have started somewhere else and went over to barra. nice bunch of guys who are great to work with.
BMFL and Nalupono, thanx for the clarification.
sheesh, some people are sensitive...

Dude, when you look like me, sensitivity is all you've got, when you want to score with the ladies.

lmao, some people? Only one, and it wasn't me. I was joking around (as cheesy as I usually am). I apologize though, I forgot to insert a statement regarding the seminar to keep the flow going.
I was sorta sensitive today...sensitive skin after shaving. lol
