and that is why he may have trouble with an anomoly like Conor.
lol "Bread"
Aussie Shaun -fighting all of those great champions in 49 straight wins and conor is going to show him something new in boxing?
a good chance he may show him something new...
remember everyone believes boxing is essentially moving in a ring, holding and punching.
If something new was going to be introduced into boxing it would likely have to come from the outside right?
It's not going to come from people who are programmed and trained to compete against other people who are programmed and trained within the same paradigm (box).
sourdough or dutch crunch?
MMALOGIC -New doesnt automatically mean effective. He might do some really stupid new stuff that good boxers dont do for a reason. Who knows but floyd will adapt , hes a boxer that doesn't watch tape on his opponents, he figures them out in the ring and he has done that 49 times successfully. Not much chance it doesn't happen with conor.Aussie Shaun -fighting all of those great champions in 49 straight wins and conor is going to show him something new in boxing?

But can conor stay busy enough to get the decision if he cant knock him out
Trane - So Conor will be playing a different sport? I want Conor to win but don't see it. When James Toney fought MMA, was he able to invent a super-counter-takedown-punch?I can see Conor maybe surprising Floyd with a couple of unconventional shots but Floyd will quickly figure it out, adapt and shut him out from there. Conor does have a puncher’s chance if lands clean and hard early on but no way he outboxes Floyd via a new system that has never been seen in 100 years of boxing. Just LOL at that thought.
well let’s break it down…
who do you give the advantage to in the clinch? a high level mma fighter like Conor or a Boxer?
if you give it to COnor then how much of a typical boxing match is taken place in the clinch?
if it’s 10% then Conor has an advantage 10% of the time.
Obviously FLoyd gets the advantage at punching range outside of the clinch. how often are boxers typically in punching range during a fight? let’s say 60%.
So 60% of the time floyd has the offensive advantage.
what if conor reduces the time spent in mayweathers punching range down to 30%? or 20% or 10%? and increases the time spent in the clinch and outside of punching range?
what if conor can do things because of his mma background in the clinch that other boxers cant do or arent used to experiencing and this causes mayweather to fatigue and wear out his advantage in the punching range?
if conor wins it’s not because he outboxes floyd… boxers try to outbox floyd… even the ones trying to rough him up instead of outbox him - they are doing it in a boxing paradigm from a boxing background.

Floyd has done that 49 times to people who were programmed and conditioned to be boxers.
Floyd has been programmed and conditioned as a boxer to beat other people who were programmed and conditioned to be boxers.

i understand your point.
conor's mma, ethnic background and individuality may bring a different dimension.
this is where Floyd will be ultra defensive in the first couple of rounds until he can tune into conor's wavelength and decifer his code.
then he will automatically know through talent and experience how to overcome that style.
then he will start to pick conor apart and stop him around 6 or 7 rounds into the bout.
Floyd may very well do what most think and beat him... no doubt.
Conor isnt going to outbox floyd. Conor's only likely path to victory is to do things that would cause the boxing community to change its rules. (ie: Conor would have to hack the system and show its vulnerabilities )
The only likely person to be able to do such a thing would be a high level mma fighter like Conor.
Boxings rules and eforcmenet of those rules are created and adminstered by men... so by its nature they are imperfect as man is imperfect.
There is always a hack and a workaround... a loophole.
The most likely type of person to be able to exploit boxings imperfect rules and enforcement is someone outside of boxing and ideally someone with a more broad view of fighting... and a skill set to match.
for example... mma fighters have the physical ability to do things in the clinch that boxers dont (ie boxers were never trained for it because they followed the accepted norms)
if you can hack that aspect of the game other aspects of the game open up... then how do you hack that, so on and so forth.
COnor may not be able to do it... but if anyone does disrupt boxing and it's likely going to be someone like him.
again i beleive if Conor wins its going to be in such a way where Boxing will be forced to change and sure up its rules.

StevetheWeasel - He certainly has all the right ingredients to win this. But will he rise to the occasion?
people giving Conor no chance are forgetting he wasn't born yeast-erday.

Boxers have “hacked” the rules. They end up doing it with the ref behind them so they don’t see it. Sure, at some point it is stopped but boxers do “hack.” Mayweather clinches at odd times, Hopkins has “head butt” and stepped on guys feet at the right times so that the ref doesn’t see it.
Are there full-on clinches, etc. no. Boxing won’t change the rules just because McGregor opted to “fight dirty within the rules.”
MMALOGIC -Well the sport is boxing ? What do u think mcgregor can do within the sports rules that will be different ? We saw McGregor box with nate diaz in an mma fight, there was nothing new there that would show he would give mayweather trouble.Snakey89 -MMALOGIC -New doesnt automatically mean effective. I'll bet a hockey team would play a different of BB than the Warriors are used to. Do you think they could win?
Trane - If Conor is going to beat Floyd, it could still happen via conventional boxing, doesn't need to be something weird that he and his camp conjured up. Don't forget that Conor does have legit boxing skills, both his timing and accuracy are top notch in the mma world. He's also in his prime and in tip top shape whereas Floyd is pushing 40.In combat sports anything can happen, Buster Douglas catching Tyson, Rahman KO’ing Lennox Lewis, Corrie Sanders KO’ing W.Klitschko etc. so I don’t like to rule anyone out including Conor.
I really hope that Conor can pull this off and if he does I’d be more inclined to think that it would be due to his mma/boxing skills (where a big part of the mma game relies on boxing as well), above average timing and precision, superior conditioning, a bit of luck, Floyd making a mistake or Floyd succumbing to father time.
In all the upsets you mentioned they were pro boxers that won upsets. There’s never been a fighter with zero fights win a championship no less beat a possible goat. Conor’s only chance is if Floyd suddenly ages, father time always wins in the end. Conor just dosen’t have the speed/power to hang with world class boxers.
I think he’s been trained to beat anybody, under boxing rules.
Boxing is an old sport…every style has been seen and done before.
Floyd is the product of 150yrs refinement…he does it better than just about anyone before him.
l hear you though…styles make fights. Conor is a younger stronger sth paw…anything could happen but if he doesn’t hurt Floyd in the first minute he’s toast.
Been bread.
Soon to be toast.
