From another forum...FRAT but worth it.
"I said it from the Arlovski fight: Fedor is does not look like himself anymore. His heart seems no longer in it. The Rogers fight confirmed this for me. Then Losing to Werdum the way he did--because of such a rookie mistake...convinced me that he was probably ready to hang up the gloves & he should probably retire. Later, the fact that Fedor stated that he has been thinking of retirement for some time now, in his interview with Helwani, has only confirmed my suspicions as far as I'm concerned.
In this fight with Bigfoot, for example, he made so many mistakes and looked like he just wanted to KO him fast to get it over with. Little lateral movement, no leg kicks, virtually no set-ups and no sprawl. That is a very bad sign. Fedor is no longer himself, not just because of age, (perhaps he's one of those people that don't age well) but mostly because his heart is no longer in it. And without that, there is no fight in the fighter--you can train all you want, the body simply will not follow if your heart is no longer in it.
I suspect that even though he wanted to retire his people wanted him to continue--squeeze a little more $ and publicity out of him because of his mystique. Because of loyalty to his team he signed up for one more contract. I think he should have listened to himself and did the right thing for himself and just retired after Rogers. My two, as they say.
Also, LOL @ the Fedor haters--This was a good day for MMA? There has seldom been anyone as good for MMA than Fedor. From Rings to Pride to SF to this very day day, he has done nothing but good things for the sport--promoting it around the world, not giving in to the UFC monopoly, and mark my words--he will be a huge part of MMA history when he helps MMA become government sponsored in Russia! This may create a trend & no doubt sets a precedent, and will help MMA be recognized globally & create more orgs that can compete & bring more great fighters to the sport.
To all these Fedor haters and MMA forum LOSER shit talkers: No doubt you are just people who have accomplished NOTHING in your lives short of spending all your time talking crap in on MMA forums & being fair weather fans with ZERO knowledge of MMA. Just org fanboys & trolls.
Fedor is happier even at this moment than you will ever be in your empty lives. He has stated time and again he has things in his life more important than fighting--his family, his freinds, his business, his life. Fedor will be just fine.
Finally, Fedor will ALWAYS go down as one of the best in the world, and legitimately so. It will be a long time before anyone beats his winning streak, record, or consistently fight top 5s & 10s in their career. Especially given his size. He could have easily come down to dominate in a lower weight class & no one would have accused him of ducking, given his size--yet he fought at HW, ducked no one, and DOMINATED. Hate and talk all the shit you want, losers. Deep in your loser hearts you know you are not half the man, person or human being that Fedor is in his pinky-toe jam.
See that standing ovation he gets even in defeat? That admiration and respect? Look at it carefully, and vicariously enjoy it, or envy it--it does not matter, because that kind of respect in and out of the ring is something you will never have in your whole lives. Maybe that is why you have to hate--because hate is the best you can do. Pathetic.
Thank you Fedor for your fights, always bringing your best, for your ongoing contribution to the sport, and above all, for consistently remaining a professional, a class act, and a good example for anyone in and out of the sport. All the for your bright future, and all the best to you, and to your family!
Peace."
Well said.
Dana won't have time to come on and read this as he is too busy having a "twitter war". I feel fucking stupid for having even typed that.
