I agree that Bonnar vs Griffin put MMA on the public/mainstream map....but there were so many great fights before them that havent been exposed and should be (UFC Unleashed)
My vote is Lawler vs Lytle
I know there are many others, but its one of my all time favs
^^LMAO^^ thats an awesome typo. i prolly didnt spell alot of shit right.
Damn, Lawler vs. Lytle is one of my all time fav's.
Baroni vs. Suloev is epic in itself.
Leben vs. Doerksen
Ninja vs. Hendo
AH! Baroni vs Suloev....good one!
Mike Brown vs. Genki Sudo
Phil Baroni vs. Matt Lindland
Frank Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz (obviously not gonna happen now, but still)
Randy Couture vs. Ricco Rodriguez
Andrei Arlovski vs. Ricco - For some reason I've only ever been able to find highlights of the end of this fight
salaverry vs the russian
the russian was Semenov
Another great unknown fight is Tiki vs. Crazy Bob Cook from UFC 24
ttt
Shamrock vs Severn 2
Royce vs Shamrock 2
Miletich vs Burnett
People still mention Couture/Rizzo I as an epic bout, but I don't think it has been shown on TV.
Probably better examples of forgotten great fights are two already mentioned:
Salaverry/Semenov (Ref Mason White let Semenov take an ungodly beating, probably as a make-up call to his having just blown the ending of Radach/Berger--BTW, he started Radach/Berger with an exultation to "Throwdown," which was my suggestion on the UG that he picked from a thread he started asking people for ideas)
Lindland/Baroni I (Lindland/Baroni II wasn't too shabby, either)
Tank vs.Scott Ferrazo(sp)I don't remember which UFC it was,but I would like to include it.
Also,Dan Henderson vs. Carlos Newton at UFC 17.I was ther, did not know who they were at the time but it was a great fight.
Master Shredder is funny.
I will try to think of more.(Not just in the UFC)
Tired of Lurking - Tank vs.Scott Ferrazo(sp)I don't remember which UFC it was,but I would like to include it.
UFC 11
Sakuraba-Newton is one of my pre-TUF favorites
If we are only talking UFC, then Coleman-Smith is at the top of my list. Everyone talks about Coleman-Williams because of the sweet KO, but nobody ever mentions that Mo is the guy who stripped away Coleman's "unbeatable" mystique. Plus, with the lights going out at the arena and Mo wanting to fight in the dark, that whole fight had a surreal feel about it.

"He'll fight in the dark! He'll fight in an alley!"--The Immortal Bruce Beck
Lawler vs. Lytle? You sure you don't mean Lawler/Riley? that fight was badass, I dont remember lawler/lytle being anything special.
anyway, Ninja/Sperry was a good one.
I mentioned UFC because of thier UNLEASHED show...they use it to showcase popular fighters today. I just wish they'd show some of the classics, even if the ppl dont fight for them anymore.
And Lawler/Lytle was just awesome for me I guess. the way Lawler clobbered Lytle and Lytle just took it, and got up and clapped....it was just exciting for me, a fight till the end.

i think since the UFC owns all the rights to Pride, they should put some of their fights on Unleashed also. they have a huge library of fights just sitting there. they should show full old pride fights for everyone to see. it would be more good MMA viewing for people who have never seen it...
Agreed.
I don't know what the Unleashed production schedule looks like, but they might not have had enough turnaround time to get the Pride footage into this season of Unleashed. Hopefully, they'll work the Pride library into next season. I would love to see one of their 'this week we are featuring' shows with Wanderlei demolishing Rampage, Kondo, Sakuraba, Jardine, etc.

Silva/Kondo was a short, but entertaining (and forgotten) fight. Silva stated afterward that he felt Kondo's power and was worried that Kondo would KO him. Then that viscous stomp finish. Actually, that finishing hailstorm of stomps almost assures it will never be shown by the UFC. :(
never seen paulson v hume! but id pay to see a video of it.
