Who would you pick in a 5 round war at Heavyweight in UFC? Jon Jones or Francis Ngannou?
Jones.
Jon is MMA's TBE still. Look at how many Champions/former Champions and #1 contenders he beat, including Cormier twice. Francis would likely lack the wrestling acumen needed to stop Jones from chain wrestling him. Jon can start with the body lock against the cage, work to the double, if not there then go for a single, look for trips, he has it all, he grew up wrestling against some supreme talents. Slow the fight down, make it ugly, embrace the grind.
Gustaffson would give Francis problems with his conditioning, footwork and ability to stick a jab on the outside at range. Jones has been fighting Heavyweights, they were just cutting to 205 lbs. Overeem is awesome but it wasn't likely that he would throw flying knees, spinning back elbows and front kicks to the face, Jones is throwing all of those techniques with a granite chin and looking to wrestle. Jones would also have the reach advantage.
Bones grew up wrestling future All Americans, NCAA Champions and even UFC fighters and his fight career is littered with competition against GREATS.
I'd have to go with Jones finding a way to get it done
I have no idea how good Ngannou is. I know how good Jones is. I have to say Jones.
Only way he wins is by juicing up like he was against DC. He has not fought a heavyweight hitter, amd we have seen how he does against guys his size like Gus. He also didnt perform impressively against OSP, and needed the juice to be able to prepare for DC. Francis by KO!

Jones all day… Francis is the flavor of the month. After Stipe makes that clear sat, we won’t see him for awhile. Jones is the one and only true Goat. His fight record speaks for itself. The guy may be a fuck up, but he’s the best fighter in the world

not like Jones is gonna stand and KO him, he doesn't have crazy power. Eventually Ngannou catches him and wins via KO
jones only chance is to wrestle and hold him down, going for TKO or Sun, neither of which I think is likely

I know its going to sound like I am a true Jones hater since I have had arguments against being GOAT. He has been unbeatable so far, no doubt. HW is a different animal though in terms of power. I believe there are quite a few HWs who can beat Jones: Werdum, Miocic, Sea Level Cain, and perhaps JDS. I know people will use the argument that Jones dominated Cormier, and that Cormier was tossing around HWs.
Jones has never been hit as hard as he would be here.
