Frank Shamrock vs Rich Franklin

Both in their primes, who wins?

I have Frank as the better all around fighter.

His Kickboxing game was better, his wrestling was better, he was a better submission art its than Rich and the cardio is a slight edge to Frank, too.

Power has to go to Ace. Size, too. Just a touch too slow for Frank, though.

I feel like Frank would hurt Rich at some point, whether to the body or head and capitalize.

But I could see it going either way.

I'd pay to watch that fight even now, what with Rich still having a fight on his contract and previously saying he wants one more fight. Not sure where he stands on retirement.

But wouldn't happen in the UFC. Oh well. Phone Post 3.0

Rich was a better striker and probably stronger.

Frank was the better grappler.

Conditioning wouldn't play a factor since boths guys can go 5 round easy.

I got Rich by 3rd round tko.

No ways was Rich a better striker.

Take away his hands and he isn't anything.

Frank had some of the best KB seen in MMA. In '99 his stand-up was fucking awesome.

Nobody can say a year for Ace where his stand-up was miles ahead of everyone else's.

Rich was eclipsed by Silva but he was, even later into his career, the clear #2 MW in the division. Franklin for sure. Phone Post 3.0

That was Ken, buddy. ;-)

franks weakness was takedown defense

and by richs title, everyone was good at defending subs

if rich wanted to, he'd win with a few takedowns

Rich wins. Seriously, Franklin has better stand up and better ground work. I MIGHT give the edge to Frank on takedowns alone, but that's a big maybe. Frank wouldn't be able to set them up against Franklin. I liked Frank back in the day but you guys are seriously overstating his abilities against newer guys.

Franklin probably wins due to being naturally bigger. Also, it's hard to credit Frank with HW Japan wins when so many of those fights looked suspect. He was still a beast for his time though. Phone Post 3.0

LOL you are trolling. Rich Franklin's striking was miles ahead of Shamrocks.

Frank is a hard one to compare. What does 'prime' mean in his case?

Do you mean 35yr old Frank's striking ability in 25yr old Frank's body?

Draw because theyre two of my faves lol Phone Post 3.0

Frank was so fucking tough, Rich was a great fighter but Frank was so slick. Phone Post 3.0

I would guess rich, but admittedly I haven't seen many frank fights. But I saw nick Diaz beat him Phone Post 3.0

That was frank years past his prime riddled with injuries and looking to cash out of the game. Phone Post 3.0

I'd go Ace here.

And it has nothing to do with him being my all time favorite... Really.

For serious. Phone Post 3.0

Yea bro you're right. Sorry I have selective reading.
To be honest though I don't recall seeing any of Franks fights but I am aware he is a legend Phone Post 3.0
