Promoting Gray Maynard as undefeated?

It’s funny because they promoted UFC and promoted the Ultimate Fighter where Nate Diaz tapped out Gray Maynard but since it was "exhibition" he technically gets to stay undefeated but most people were aware Nate Diaz had already submitted Gray Maynard.

Gray’s rematch with Nate went even worst than the first fight.

Gray beat Nate in the rematch from the show. He got smoked in the third fight.

"Together, Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard gave us arguably the greatest trilogy in MMA history. " And then I stopped reading...

How many better trilogies are there in MMA?

Two of the three fights are all-time greats. Dec-draw-finish is pretty sweet, too.

Hughes/Penn, Cormier/Miocic, GSP/Hughes come to mind

Chuck/Randy is GOAT trilogy.

The idea that Frankie v. Gray isn’t in that same conversation is lunacy.

Exactly, but its frankie.  One of the most underappreciated stars in the UFC history. Guy was a champ at 155, but is a true 135er. Who else could go up to weight and win a belt? This fight is what made me one of the biggest edgar fans around. He’s everything you should want in a person and a fighter.

Frankie Edgar believes a finish in his upcoming fight at UFC Vegas 18 could result in a title shot

UFC bantamweight Frankie Edgar believes a finish in his upcoming fight against Cory Sandhagen at UFC Vegas 18 could result in a title shot.

Next Saturday, Edgar and Sandhagen fight in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 18: Overeem vs. Volkov, and there could be a 135lbs title shot on the line for the winner, especially with a great finish. UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan takes on No. 1 contender Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259 in March and the winner of the Edgar vs. Sandhagen fight could very well get the winner of the title fight later this year.

What happened to gray? He had one of the most rapid declines that didn’t coincide with usada coming in, he went from one of the clear top contenders to washed up while still in his early 30s. He wasn’t always the most exciting guy but I felt bad for how his career went after the Edgar fights, I think he beat Guida and then had three consecutive KO defeats to tj grant, Nate Diaz and Ross Pearson. IIRC, wasn’t there talk by Randy about gym wars at xtreme couture at the time?
