Franklin: What a shame...

What a shame that on his most recent UFC interview he has stooped to the level of trying to discredit Hendo's win against him.

I respect and like Rich as a fighter and it's dissapointing to hear him come out now and make excuses blaming the eye poke and saying how with Vanderlei "it will be nice to fight someone who is not always trying to take me down."

Last time I checked, takedowns and grappling were an integral part of MMA and if you can't defend it then you are at a disadvantage.

To imply that Henderson won the fight because of takedowns is ridiculous anyway. Hendo always stands and bangs with his opponents. He is very well rounded and does what it takes to win.

Too bad Rich seems to have bitterness over the loss because I expected more from him.

Dan did win because of the takedowns. But what's wrong with saying it'll be nice to fight someone who isn't going for takedowns? I don't think he was trying to imply that was a bitch move or anything, just that as a standup fighter he prefers not to have to worry about defending takedowns.

Correct me if my memory doesn't serve me well but didn't much of that fight take place standing? Didn't Henderson drop him in the beginning of the first?

I do not think that Hendo took that fight to the ground to avoid standing with Rich and I don't recall Rich winning the standup in the fight. If anything, I remember most the BS 30-27 decision by one judge for Franklin.

Talk about having your wallet stolen!

Cre, if Franklin knew he had a stalker as obsessed as you he would definately get a restraining order.

Everyone knows Henderson clearly won the fight and I'm just saying what a shame that he was beat in EVERY aspect of the fight and sinks to the level of making excuses.

In addition, Henderson did WAY better against A. Silva than the absolute destruction that Franklin endured TWICE! Hendo should get another shot and aside from MAYBE Marquardt, is the only MW left who has a legitimate chance of beating Silva!

I thought Franklin won, that said, Wanderlei is going to kill him next Saturday.

Rich "the floater"Franklin.......flush this dude away already........

Henderson won fair and square.

I agree with the decision though it could have gone either way and I would have agreed both ways... Fight should have been a draw.

Hendo won the fight, but Ace beats Wand, I think. He'll catch with that weird, looping punch he throws, and Wand won't see b/c Rich makes for weird angles. I foresee a less stiffened Quarry replay. More Nelmark than Quarry.

Rich won that fight.

I thought Rich won as well.

Franklin won, IMO.

Rich won. Hendo didn't actually DO anything most of the time. I'm willing to bet though that's it the same fans that think Serra actually beat Hughes, lol.

It's interesting how trolls can get lurkers to post.

Rick is the fucking man. He was right about the eye poke. It was blatant. Why would a fighter porkupine their hands as they're being charged? Come on! Watch the fight in slow mo. That and the two headbutts in the first that opened Rich up? Those plus the laying/praying gave Dan the win. It wasn't his fighting ability.

There's a reason that Anderson asked Rich to train with him. It's respect for a guy who puts it all out there and is genuinely a good guy (who can fight). He doesn't take the easy way through when he knows he could get a cheap shot in. He was just telling it how it is in that interview.

(and lol saying that bisping is even relevant in that division! we all know he's just being promoted to take the UFC to a new international consumer).

NarlyPersianDude - Dan Henderson won that fight fair and sqaure. To say Dan intentionally poked him in the eye is bullshit.

And if that was a 10 minute first round like in Pride Dan would have won the fight right there. And Dan beat Rich standing.

Yeah. What he said.

everyone feels ripped off when its a too-close-to-call fight they lose

Heartbroken Lee - Sorry to say it, but Hendo cheated in that fight. Rich started to pull away and Hendo didn't feel like he had the gas to hold out. So he poked him in the eye.

All I took away from that fight was that Rich is better than Hendo and fights with honour.

He's Dan Freakin'  Henderson. He doesn't need to do a bitch move like poke someone in the eye on purpose. Totally an accident.
