Okay guys, I've been trying to have a greens shake every day. Just blending spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, ginger and an apple or pear. But the problem is that I end up throwing a lot of it away because it goes bad before I can get through it. Im wondering if I get the ingredients, chop them up and put in a freezer bag to freeze, then when I make a shake I can just grab a few handfuls of the frozen mix and blend will the shake still be just as good as if it were fresh or will it lose a lot of its nutrients?
Thanks for any input
You'll be fine. Make the mix ahead of time, i like that idea actually.
That's actually an interesting idea, pre-mixing the shake up.
My Q is, how small is the shake or how large the bags that your veggies are going bad before you eat them?
Well that's a lot of stuff. If he gets a big bag of each some of that stuff, like the spinach, could go bad pretty quick.
avoid blending it with water as it will frost over but the greens themselves should be fine :)
Yeah I usually put a 3rd of a cucumber, 2 or 3 sticks of celery, a whole apple and a handful or 2 of spinach and kale and I just use as much water as needed. It usually makes quite a big shake, at least 500ml. But yeah it's usually the spinach that goes first because I can only seem to find it in a big bag.
Arthurknoqout what do you mean don't blend with water? I wasn't thinking of blending it then freezing it. Just chop the veggies etc up and freeze that so its handy to throw in the blender
Guys he is not talking about blending first I don't think.
I think the way you're doing it is fine, I wouldn't make to big of frozen chunks, cause they might break your blender.
Right, that's what i meant at least. Just chop up the veggies and fruits and freeze them. Then take out the desired amount for each shake and blend it once it's already frozen.

+1
If you can only find spinach in massive bags just buy something else like kale, collard greens, chard, etc... that come in a smaller bunch.
But again, the freezing thing should work fine, it'll make for insta-cold smoothies and nutrition shouldn't be hurt.
