Granted that some people there are "Judo-centric" they're pretty respectful and conscious of the fact that there are a lot of younger Judokas who frequent the site. It's a Judo forum after all. JudoSensei allows a certain amount of leeway but he prefers that the site remain a little gentler than mma.tv.
Honestly, you could have done a better job "educating" the others instead of calling attention to yourself, initially, then making the thread all about you and what you have done for Judo. No doubt you've given a lot to Judo.
It's also not cool starting a thread here to invite even more mma.tv-type attention. My 2 little cents.

see, the problem is that you guys dont enjoy a little biting humor or blunt reality. it is a difference in the sense of humor and one's willingness to call BS when you see it.
you could call BS on me and it wouldnt bother me a bit. in fact, youd be better served in doing that than insulting the kind of people here. for one thing, the people here are far, far more open-minded than those at JI and they are much more willing to put their dollars, actions and whatever else where their mouths are too. the only people who let their actions speak for themselves at JI are annmarie, goltz and one or two others. the rest are window dressing talkers.
i just cant stand people who talk and cant walk.
mma.ty-type = a BJJ blue belt who can tap any Olympic-level Judoka, drives a Lamborghini Countach, benches 500#, has a supemodel GF, and a 12" d!ck. Then there are the sane ones like Ben Reinhardt and Jarvis Kolen who frequent both and adjust their styles appropriately.
JI = mostly noobs asking about techs to mostly older men past their prime and doing MA recreationally. Then there are the few trolls like TR who are unable to see anything past Judo or Wrestling and choke at the mention of BJJ.
Nothing wrong with these. I'm saying that place has fewer smack and mostly populated by kids and old men who probably aren't familiar with the blunt speak common among mma.tv and Sherdog posters. Of course they'll learn the different flavors of the various MA forums soon enough. But the focus there is more of learning the "gentler" way.
You're in an absolutely great position to actually educate them and my kids who visit the JI forum. Just consider that there are lots of noobs, kids, parents who are still unfamiliar with the "rougher" tones common at mma.tv or Sherdog or FightSport. Hope that makes sense.
Lots of Judo posters here are savvy enough to recognize these things. Kids grow up too fast and experience so much. It'll be nice to show those kids respect at every turn, make it rub off on them.

josh i dont know how good your jiu-jitsu is, but if you get up to brown belt (if you are not already) you will be able to add a few more years to your career. the neil adams thread is just said. neil is a hero to many and they will never be able to see that that article is as credible as a BigFoot sighting. no witnesses at all. royce is not a sjj master, but the machados are. the story is just so full of holes.
i am just a purple belt in GJJ and i have been helping a young lady who is a top judoka at the senior level and she has a lot of trouble letting go and realizing that when it comes to newaza jj is superior and will be extremely beneficial to her judo. many elite athletes just cant see there are methods found outside of the box that will improve their game. once she does she will be an international terror!

I don't think you need to worry about "mma.tv types" invading the judoinfo forum. We are all aware that it is there, and I read it often. I've never had the desire to post there, because I can express myself freely here.
JoshuaResnick: I'm just not sure what you want to accomplish by saying you're making anyone proud in an announcement about what is going on over at Judoinfo.
I'm not sure really that it is the environment for that particular persona. It is much more of a learning environment filled with a tremendous number persons new to Judo. You made some valid points, but I believe by throwing out so much bait you have caught a bigger fish than you anticipated. Now, those threads are degenerating down to fights. Oh well, I don't own the forum and it's not my place to tell anyone how to operate I'm just throwing my opinion in.

Judoinfo wants the atmosphere to be more...well, Judo like. :-) Hell, I'm welcome there and I'm an old school MMA.tv guy.

yes, i flamed a few people (like west and TR) just to get a rise out of them becuase it would make for a more enjoyable, humourous thread. WHIPPIE... i must be evil. oooo. then i presented a devil's advocate responce to a quote from yamashita becuase it would make the ocnversation lively. oh no!
oh, and then i went into a well-weaved web of why nomura is better than everybody else. mind you, that was a very delicate silk thread there becuase i really do think judo is very artistic in truth but i just couldnt say that as it would kill the debate and become the usual dullness.
