US Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson has signed with WWE, as confirmed by Steveson himself on Twitter Saturday.
Steveson simply wrote, “Just put pen to paper.” Dave Meltzer later confirmed that Steveson has indeed signed with WWE.
No start date or other details have been given about Steveson’s signing, nor has it been said whether or not the 21-year-old will finish out his enrollment at the University of Minnesota.
Steveson was in attendance at SummerSlam in Las Vegas on August 21, and had appeared at other prior WWE events.
UFC pay is lower and your life is on the line. And unless you’re a flashy striker, it would appear Dana has never been thrilled to promote his African American champs compared to Europeans or MAGAs like Colby. DC being the exception.
Also, Jones was a money making opportunity for them regarding PR (before his personal life trainwrecked) because they were an NFL family. Zuffa was hoping this would set a precedent and a path to scoop up more elite athletes that would otherwise choose different sports.
This was predicted by a few journalists that he was just using Bellator and PFL after he already made up his mind. They guessed correctly that it was WWE based off the photo with Vince and his age/skill set. It make much more sense to build a name as a wrestler / entertainer meanwhile learning striking and martial arts, then when you are already popular, transition to MMA like Brock Lesnar. People won’t take it like a joke like CM Punk because Steveson has legit wrestling like Brock.
I know nothing about WWE. But that makes sense because I can’t name one wrestler of today. But I kind of always knew the stars back in the day like Steve Austin, Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, etc etc but I thought I was just getting older and don’t hear anything about WWE. That sucks for them.
and before Jake Hager fought in Bellator I never knew his name, same with CM Punk, had no idea who he was. But it seemed like it was a big deal when CM Punk fought for UFC. At least from what I was reading online he was a big star. But those are the only wrestlers I could name if my life was on the line and it’s cause of mma
Bobby Lashley is one of their current stars. Another guy that tried to bounce to mma but didn’t have a big enough name that anyone really cared so he just went back to WWE.
Yeah, but a most of those guys are in the hook for like 200 dates when house shows and everything are running. You spend weeks of your year if not a month sitting on an airplane.
Fighters outside of fightweek, for the most part, roll out of bed, train, fuck around, train, fuck around, go to bed rinse and repeat. It’s a pretty easy going life for the most part if you like training.
