I enjoy Gaethje but he is a danger to himself. He will develop CTE/Dimentia in his 40s. Honestly, one or two wars are cool, after that I care more about the fighter than the highlight reel. Dustin was huge at 155. Gaethjes power would show at 145 and he would take less punishment. Also, he needs a coach that can lead him to win (use his excellent wrestling), not encourage a brawl. The problem is the UFC will keep pimping him despite the wins because the highlight reel. He needs to have a talk with Goodridge.
william795 - Would probably be too plodding and slow at 145. Seems like that's the case a lot of the time moving from 155 to 145. He's not the fastest anyway.
His foot work would be slow, true. But his hand speed and kick speed is good. He would be hard to takedown. I see him actually a tough match for Holloway…if he takes him down and utilizes dirty boxing.
He doesn’t need to drop down, he just needs to learn how to fight smart. He was killing Portier with those leg kicks. But he likes to trade. More balls than brains or soon to be mush.....

This is probably correct, but he looks like he could make 45 pretty easy. Dude is tougher than anyone I’ve ever seen regardless.

Gaethje said he don’t like to cut weight..... at all.
I hope for for his sake he hooks up with a neurologist and gets a full work-up if he hasn’t already.....
I disagree, I think he is fine and can hang with the best in this division. He needs a New coach that can get it through his thick skull that strategy is everything in the UFC. Stick to your strengths and he will easily win most of his fights.
He looked small compared to Porrier and he didn’t fight a smart fight. They both put on a great fight, but Geatje didn’t give himself the best chance of winning.
My kickboxing coach used to say “a Good big man most always beats a great small man,” Dustin showed this by not only the ko, but also the ability to take the punches and leg kicks and still win by ko.
He s fine at 155 he just doesn’t fight smart - he is too caught up in his death style - putting on great fights. He had Eddie beat and he also had Dustin beat. Instead of trying to drag his opponents into the deepest waters of their lives, he should just go for the kill. His style worked outside of UFC because he was probably so much fitter than his opponents, but UFC guys are pros man. You can only play with them for so long.
