Game of Thrones is racist --Finn

John Boyega just called out Game of Thrones for Racism

After starring in a decently diverse Star Wars film, Finn actor John Boyega recently expressed his concern with the lack of diversity in other fantastical movies and TV shows, which have made far less of an effort to include people of color in recent years.

“There are no black people on Game of Thrones”, Boyega told GQ, which is only partly true, as any black characters in the hit HBO series are often sidelined and second-tier. More accurately, Boyega also pointed out that “You don’t see one black person Lord of the Rings,” which is the hard truth.

Dragons aren’t a problem, but non-white people seem to be.

“I ain’t paying money to always see one type of person on-screen,” he added. “Because you see different people from different backgrounds, different cultures, every day. Even if you’re a racist, you have to live with that. We can ruffle up some feathers.”

Fantasy such as Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings might not be taking steps to accurately reflect the diversity in our own world, but science fiction properties are making a concerted effort as of the past few years.

Star Trek, always boldly looking toward a better, more inclusive future, has casttwo women of color as leads in the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery series. And, of course, the powers that be at Lucasfilm incited outrage amongst racist fans when Boyega’s Finn was first introduced as a main character in the new Star Wars trilogy, with internet trolls insisting that black Stormtroopers don’t exist.

Popular fantasy has a long way to go to catch up. Seems like the ball’s in your court, Game of Thrones.

I feel like I'm close to full capacity with all this shit...
Does this mean I'm starting to get triggered...?

Boo fucking hoo

How many black people are there in all seven Star Wars films? Three? Mace, Lando, and this douchebag. Don't hear him crying about that.

Its based more or less in a medieval England. What was the fuckwit expecting?

Grey Worm and Missandei are some of the most uncomplicatedly good characters on the show.

Sallador Saan needs to make a comeback, though, and it's a shame Jalabhar Xho never showed up.

GRRM paints the Summer Islands as probably the most reasonable place in the world, but it is also a world where being a part of a bloodline who hasn't even built a new house to live in in over a thousand years is the most important thing.

What a brilliant insight, nobody has ever thought of this before.

Fuck off

The worst part of all this is constantly seeing blacks in MY FUCKING culture when they were not there.

When was the last time you saw a movie on Greek culture that didn't have some black people in it?

Amazons in wonder woman? Gotta have a strong black woman and some other blacks in there because hey, that's what ancient Greece was like! A melting pot.

So they support cultural appropriation or dont? Which is it?

FINALLY!
Someone is saying what ive been saying all the time! Its really shameful that there is no diversity in game of thrones. And dont get me started on the sick gender equalities...

There is also a lot of discrimination against gay and trans in the show, gay sex has always been common and should be shown a lot more on the show.

Trans people really have no character they can relate to, so we really want someone to come out as a transgender, I would suggest Brienne.

The role Tyrion is the greatest content of character type in television, completely ostracized but still begrudgingly respected for his intelligence. Boyega could only dream of that type of writing, in star wars he's just a minority Mary sue with glazed over eyes,I'm surprised he doesn't refer to the female lead Rey as Boss lady.

Wow if he thought he got hate for being on Star Wars, this faggot hasn't seen nothing yet...

He will be labeled an activist and put on a pedestal.... People will comment on his bravery....
More or less...

He must be pissed at the new Nolan film, Dunkirk.

I was surprised there was a (tiny) uproar for LOTR. Imagine the reaction in Hollywoods Midget* community when LotR was announced. They thought they'd be flooded with jobs as Hobbits and Dwarfs.. But no, they well all fucked by camera trickery..

This is far more serious than lack of diversity in a FANTASY universe.

So we are applying affirmative action to works of fiction now, too...

When do Black's get sick of playing the victim card?
