His one year suspension is BS. Three months top. We're missing out on some great fights. Who's with me.
Everyone but the NSAC
Maybe he should just follow the rules and take some responsibility for his actions.
And the UFC isn't the one that suspended him.
Does anyone know if the UFC can or can't book him to fight before the suspension is up, with the fight itself obviously being after the suspension is up? I'm guessing they can't or won't which sucks cuz we'll have to wait an extra couple months :(
What if he really doesn't want to go back to that bullshit?
I honestly hope he doesn't, unless the offer is so good it will set him up for life with one fight.
Otherwise, if he has the means, I hope he says a big fuck you to the UFC and athletic commissions everywhere.
They don't deserve the likes of him and although I'd love to see him fight again, I'd totally respect and understand his decision if he decided not to.
I'm not with you. But...
He will be back, as soon as he serves his time. Diaz broke the rules and it's simple as that.
Yes, get him back in now.
Fuck NSAC, they're complete bureaucratic incompetence. Look at the difference in how they're treating Chavez jr. and how they treated Nick Diaz.
It wasn't his first violation. The punishment is similar in alot of other organizations and sports. Second violations usually come with a pretty steep penalty. I don't know for certain but I believe the MLB suspends for a year on the second violation as well.
Diaz was royally fucked over in every way possible and I'm sure he knows it.
Why will he be back for sure? Fuck 'em and their bullshit.
What I'd really love to see is him get name value with another organisation overseas that treated him like a fighter instead of public enemy number one.
That would be just awesome.

Wait the UFC made him public enemy number one?
I thought they let him fight in a main event after skipping a press conference. Then let him fight for a title. And promoted him to death and talked more about Diaz fighting gsp than Condit in the primetime show. Then were going to give him an instant rematch when he didn't like the decision.
Poor guy.

Edit: My god this forum is so shitty... trying to quote third post. Maybe Nick should take responsibility for his own actions for once, and the UFC can't do shit except let him fight internationally, which would be a very dumb move by them.
He deserves what he got. So sick of the "Oh it's just weed". It's banned and he's tested positive before. If you can't stop smoking before the biggest fight of your career then you've got a problem. Karo took prescription painkillers he was prescribed, fined and suspended. No different. Not to mention he quit after Condit beat him
Maybe if he gets some shitty tattoos or a mohawk.

The fuck out of here with that bullshit.
Not to be a white knight but this is one situation where you are blaming the UFC for no reason.
This is partly diaz's fault and partly the nsac fault, one more than the other depending on who's side you are taking but the UFC have done nothing but try and cater to nick because they know there is money to be made off of him.
And once the suspension is over or lifted Dana will be waiting with open arms and stacks of cash. He won't be poor homey.
Nick has good fights. Of course people want to see him. The problem is there's a gap between "fighter" and "professional fighter" that Nick just won't bridge. The arguement is very polarizing. the bottom line is Nick is just going to be Nick. He's 100% fighter all the time. He does not care about what others think or even his professional career. I'm of the opinion that a professional athlete needs to protect the brand. While I don't feel like weed enhances performance, it is against the rules in all sports. At some point a pro has to respect that and toe the line. But, like I said, Nick wakes upa fighter and goes to bed a fighter. Noone will ever make him see that there are other issues involved. It's just who he is.
He should sign to fight in a ufc in another country
Doesn't matter. If any AC suspends a fighter it's considered world wide. Other ACs enforce the suspensions as well. Noone would allow him on a card. The promoter would also have his license pulled.

Then he would likely be unable to get licensed in the USA for a very long time, if ever again. The commissions don't really like it when you try to avoid suspensions by fighting where there is no commission, and the UFC would be very unlikely to put him on a card while he is suspended because it makes them look bad in the eyes of commissions.
Fuck him. He can't play by the rules then let him stay benched. He blew TWO title opportunities because he couldn't put the bong down.

I thought the same thing, but it is not true.James Irvin fought under suspension & came back & fought.
