Gi Choke from Turtle Position

Had the opportunity to spend a week training with Professor Trey Howard from Gracie United Slidell. He taught this choke from the turtle position that will definitely be a part of my arsenal.

Check out his school at:

Professor Trey Howard is a black belt under Professor Rafael Ellwanger and teaches out of Gracie United Slidell.

This type of choke entry is classic Judo - never seen a "BJJer" do it before. I knew another variation but for the life if me cannot remember it. '

Learned a variation of this in judo years ago.  Very potent choke.

My old instructor used to do a variation of this choke with the Dvoidnokov turnover. I can't recall how to do it though. Phone Post 3.0

gave it a try today at lunch...works. I like it. Thanks for sharing.

That's probably the same one I knew!

I learned this choke several years back but with a thumb in grip on the back of the neck instead of the fingers in. Once it is in I've worked on actually dropping in to a marcelotine style finish where you drop under the uke with a shin across the waist, hooking with your instep and throwing the free leg over the back. Not sure if this makes sense in writing but it has worked well for me. Phone Post 3.0
