January 20, 2012. For anyone who doesn't know, that is a bad sign. January through March is pretty much the dumping grounds with studios for films they don't expect to do well at all, with January being the worst date. Given the 6 month release date shift (from a prime August date), this is pretty much an indicator that this one is gonna be rough. The original distributor dropping it is also a very bad sign.
News via Twitchfilm.com:
Steven Soderbergh's upcoming action-thriller starring MMA fighter Gina Carano has a new home at Relativity Media and will be dropping in theaters January 20th, 2012. The film features a ridiculous cast alongside Carano of Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas and Michael Angarano. This is not dissimilar to Soderbergh's upcoming outbreak-thriller Contagion which stars Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Bryan Cranston, John Hawkes and Demetri Martin. You gotta hand it to Soderbergh for at least having a great casting director. Contagion is set for release (in 3D!!) October 21st, 2011. From the sound of things, Haywire will only be in good ol'fashioned 2D.
In Haywire, an electrifying tale of espionage and betrayal, a female covert ops specialist (Carano), who works in the deadly world of international operatives, strikes back after discovering she's been double-crossed by someone close to her in the agency. The film is produced by Gregory Jacobs (Ocean's Trilogy) and written by Lem Dobbs (The Limey).
Hopefully Relativity will allow us to post the awesome Neil Kellerhouse Haywire posters that former distributor Lionsgate made the internet take down a month or so back. Check back soon.
The only way I'd be excited about this is if they released some "Jessica Biel in Powder Blue Surprise" type news............then I'd be lined up and ready to watch.
Humphrey - based on the pictures of the retakes, her getting fat didn't help this movie a bit.
I agree. She was caught off guard because the film had supposedly wrapped severl months before. The studio had some extra money and they decided to change the ending thus the reason for the re-shoots. I don't really fault her for that. It's not like she was obese lol
Is the studio mad/upset with her? Are they considering scrapping the scene because with the extra weight she looks different than in the rest of the movie?
