Glory Be!

Revelation 7:12

Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.

"Glory" is one of those premodern concepts that we can only grasp by either returning to our childhood and remembering moments of glory or returning to our past and seeing them there. We see glory in sunsets, in noble lives sacrificed so that others might live, in quiet people who toil in meager jobs so their children can go to college, in all manner of things that bring a lump to our throat or make us cheer or cause us to clamor for some sort of honor to be paid to the noble. It is strange that things as different from one another as a conquering warrior and a defeated and crucified peasant can both be glorious, and the latter's glory far, far greater than the former's. Yet it is so. For it was on the night before He died that Jesus said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son that the Son may glorify Thee." Glory to you, O Lord!

Amen, brotha!!!
