There’s a great book called Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs. It’s just chapters on the culture of the late 80s early 90s. Really good. 

    Always found it interesting that people forget that Pearl Jam was actually more popular than Nirvana during that era. Ten was a monster album. Of course Kurt dies, and the narrative changed. 

     Not saying either band was better. But Pearl Jam were seen as “the” Seattle band at the start.
