I am exploring the possibilities of going to brazil over the summer to train. so, I am looking for some online resources so that I can read up on it. Does anyone know of some good ones? I remember reading an article on onthemat.com about traveling to brazil, but I can't find it now.
I know alot of people from this forum have traveled and trained in brazil so if anyone can share some helpful tips, or info about traveling to brazil that would be great.
If I traveled I would go through my academy, but I want to research it myself first before I ask my instructor if he can make the arrangments.
Stayed in Rio twice, had no problems, its like NYC when Dinkins was Mayor have to be aware of whats going on. Great training great food great people, beutiful woman everywhere, I got by with english only but it helps if you speak thier lingo.
As far as the language goes just remember one word - "beleza" it means "ok / cool / that's ok".
The guy doesn't speak any english? Beleza!
Somone wants to roll? Beleza!
Wanna go for a beer after training? Beleza!
Some guy thinks your looking at him funny? Beleza!
The "Beleza technique" should be taught in all basic jiu jitsu class along with the mount, guard and the phrenology of helio gracie's head. It's the true brazilian verbal jiu jitsu.
what do you want to know exactly? i am in brazil right now. my friend and i started our trip in caracas and went down through venezuela and are now in s?o luis. if you decide to come to the north/northeast, bjj is a little harder to find as most academies don?t have web addresses. although right now i am training at BTT here and that we easy to google.
