I haven't heard much about her since winning the gold in women's judo. I saw that she signed with dominace mma in August 2012, but couldn't find anything about any fights she has had. Anyone know if she is still pursuing MMA and if she has fought?

yeah she posted on her Twitter a while back that she's training with folks in/for MMA but that's about all I heard/saw.
After doing some more looking, this was a quote from her I got from another site:
"Like I said, I'm a bit bigger than Ronda so I feel like that may be a big factor for me deciding to do MMA. Fans don't really wanna see us 'big girls' out there. It doesn't matter what I have to offer as an athlete, part of the gig is that I'm also pretty, and good in front of a camera, and marketable. It's up to the MMA gods to decide that. I'm guessing 155 would be my ideal weight though. I sit at around 165 naturally, so, 145 is a bit low in my opinion."

She looks much smaller in that pic posted in the thread than she did during her gold medal winning run.
Hook her up with Dolce and let her now through Cyborg.
Corey - Just googled some pics of her and she ain't no dime.
She's no dime, but she's not hard on the eyes either. Moderately attractive and ridiculously talented is a pretty good basis for marketing a female fighter.

she's a great story, though. She was sexually abused by her first coach and her bracket in the Olympics was hella tough. I remember watching that day at work and thinking wow, if she somehow pulls this off this will be INSANE and she did and it was very heartwarming.
Geeze how old was she when her coach did this to her?
she trained with him since she was like 6 and this came to light when she was 15 I believe so sometime during that period...FUCKED UP, man.
edit: just read that it was for about 3 years or so...However, there seems to be little actual details of the court proceedings. that POS was sentenced to 10 years and she went to train with Jimmy Pedro and his pops after that so it worked out in the end. Definitely made her super mentally tough for sure. She spoke about being suicidal and wanting to kill herself during that time. Very sad stuff.

Gee women who go to Olympics for throwin people around not being 10's the shock of it all
You’re not stepping up to MMA are you?
Not at this time, no.
Ronda is the perfect example for a judoka to go for MMA, but why shouldn’t judoka switch?
I think its a very tough transition for judoka. All our lives we are taught the culture of judo; respect, discipline, respect. Judo is a martial art but it is also a sport that can be taken to the highest level- the Olympics. MMA is an entertainment…its about entertaining people at all costs and that is a difficult philosophy for judoka to grasp I think.
What is it that MMA is so popular and what are the good elements that could be included into judo?
Money. MMA has lots of money. In the US, judo has a very limited budget.
Also- media. MMA has become a household term- why? Because its everywhere in the news, on the tv, on billboards. You want to grow something… find a face for it and market it to the mainstream media. It takes money though… a tough catch-22. You have to market to make money but you need to market to make money!

I didn't take it that way in the context of what she was saying. She's saying that to be successful in WMMA that you have to be all those things and then she goes on to say that it's "up to the MMA gods to decide that."

“She’s a big fan of mixed martial arts. She likes it a lot. She’s seen her friend Ronda Rousey doing big things. But her main focus right now is the next Olympics. Hopefully get a second gold in the next Olympics. She has one of the best coaches in the world, I believe -- Jimmy Pedro. She has the whole Renzo Gracie family behind her also. She has a lot, a lot of support. She’s become a national hero. She’s just a great athlete, great person and she has a great story, and I’m just honored to be part of her team.”

After reading the article, I think you are right.
It looks weird the way it is phrased, but that is probarbly just a case of spoken word vs print. Seems like a cool chick.
