Good hotels in NYC?

I'm going to NYC in a couple of weeks and was wondering where I should stay. Any recommendations? While I'm at it, what should I do while I'm there? I'll be there for 4 days which gives me 3 days to sight see and such. First time going as well. Phone Post 3.0

And where are the good places to eat at? Lol Phone Post 3.0

Find a place in Mid-Town. Convenient to everything.

StevetheWeasel - Good thread.

I have friends there. So I haven't stayed in a hotel since 2001, which was the Pennsylvania, across from MSG. It was affordable, and non-offensive. You should be spending very little time in your room, anyway. Just find someplace affordable and in a good location.
Thanks for the response, Steve. Good post. Yeah, we just want somewhere that's decently priced and has good reviews. Looking forward to it since it's my first time going. Phone Post 3.0

is anyone else going to cum with you to NYC, wife, gf? solo?

i wouldnt get too hung up on finding an awesome hotel...get a decently priced one in agood location...personally id prefer to stay below 23 rd street...but most people will prob recommend you stay somewhere more "mid" townish...in the 40s-60s

i just prefer being downtown, even if as a tourist, you'll be taking the train and walking around anyway, so don't get hung up on choosing a "Centrally located" hotel

please for gods sake, book a room on the top floor of this hotel or any hotel in a populated area of NYC. I stayed here on a top floor and all you hear every second is street noise and honking. Phone Post 3.0

if budget isnt an issue, there are so many awesome hotels you and your wife can stay at, for that sort of thing as well

enjoy NYC in the outdoors, hopefully the weather is good that weekend....central park is always a good place to start

We were looking at the Renaissance hotel... Looks good. Would yall recommend it? Phone Post 3.0

Andaz - either location. Phone Post 3.0

I'm going in August -first time as well. We booked Room Mate Grace hotel. Used Room Mate in Florence and Barcelona and both times the hotel was brilliant. This is located just round the corner from Times square.

I stayed at Eurostars near wall street recently and thought it was a decent hotel with a great location. Had a lot of fun.
