He's there to protect the fighters. He does let them fight pretty well though. I almost always here him say "you gotta do something, you gotta defend" before he steps in.
Also, any other ref for Sylvia/Mir and Sylvia would still be on the disabled list.
Steve "Porn 'Stache" Mazzagatti is twice the ref of Herb Dean "Match Killer". I remember several years ago a couple of Herbs early step-in incited "Ban Herb from refing" threads on the UG.
Lavigne is the clear number one, but Herb is good and getting better.
Lavigne is the best, that said Herb and Mustachegatti are fine refs. Sometimes shit happens and then the UG calls for their heads.
Mirgliotta has had some bad calls recently.
That Kevin Mullholland in NJ is pretty good to and should be flown into Cali and other states to prevent Cecil Peoples from reffing.
