Good time Guida In It For More Than Just Kicks

For many, UFC lightweight Clay Guida’s image is that of a fun loving, devil may care spitfire and eternal optimist. But those

who think Guida is simply along for a ride in the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization are sorely mistaken.

Thanks, good article. I enjoyed watching Guida fight back in his "reckless" days. Lately though, not so much.

Thanks for reading, Ironclad! Glad you enjoyed it.

Ironclad -  Thanks, good article. I enjoyed watching Guida fight back in his "reckless" days. Lately though, not so much.

Yet, this Guida knows what the most important thing in his career is-- winning fights.

I'd rather see this Guida, one who fights to his strengths while not feeding in to his opponents' over the one we saw at the beginning of his UFC career.

Also, good article Elias!

Thanks for reading and the kind words Nanook!

Also, interesting discussion on pragmatism vs. "entertainment"

Ty for the read Elias.

I see this being an entertaining match-up.  I also see a cartoon owl scowling at me with sinister eyes and majestic talons.  I took 'shrooms.

Guida=racist prick

Nice writeup, Elias! For the record, Elias was the first writer I ever knew of who covered the Guida Bros.

I think Clay has a great chance given his ability to push the pace and make Diego use a lot of energy early.

 Thanks Hessian for reading!

Jason, thanks for the comment and support bro! It's been really cool covering the Guidas over the years.

I think Clay is one of the nicest guys in the sport.

ttt for him and Elias.

 Good seats Guida IMO.

haha!

FYI, UFC weigh in photos are now up at UFC.com

great article as usual Elias, yes yes yes for the carpenter

Ya ya ya ya, I'm gonna be the most boring fighter imaginable to win blah blah blah, no one gets hurt but I hold them against the cage wall so I win.

At least he's being the best he can be unlike Sherk who turned from being a top 5 LW fighter to an average stand up fighter. Either way I'm rooting for Diego, but I can't deny Guida's conditioning and aggression.

 can't wait for tonight

Clay got a kick out of that UG nickname when I mentioned it to him one time during an interview:)

how was the diaz fight so boring, almost constant action and work from both guys

i guess i gotta watch it again...

Good read...thanks for the article.
