Gorilla Facts

As the continuing debate goes on; consider the following in the next Gorilla vs UFC debate:

1.
Gorillas have larger muscles in their arms than in their legs (the opposite is true for humans). This is primarily due to the fact that they use their increased arm strength for bending and gathering foliage and for defense. Although capable of walking upright on two feet they most often walk as a quadruped (on four limbs).

So that's like getting kicked instead of punched

  1. Gorillas' arms are much longer than their legs and their arm span is about 30 cm (1 ft) longer than that of an adult human male. The elongated arms indicate a tree-dwelling ancestry even though gorillas are now primarily terrestrial (ground-dwelling).

That's a tough reach to get inside of

  1. An adult gorilla's upper body strength is six times more powerful than that of an adult human - enabling them to lift, break, and squeeze heavy objects.

The squeezing part concerns me the most

  1. The head of a gorilla is massive, with a bulging forehead overhanging the eyes and a bony sagittal crest on top (high-domed head). The sagittal crest (especially noticeable in males) supports the large temporal muscles needed to grind coarse vegetation.

Makes it sound like they might be hard to KO

With the Dolce Diet a female Gorilla could drop to lightweight

Western lowland adult male gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) are about 1.7 m (66.9 in) in body length and weigh about 169.5 kg (374 lb). Adult females are about 1.5 m (59.1 in) in body length and weigh about 71.5 kg (158 lb).

or be as big as light heavyweight

Adult male mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) may weigh up to 220 kg (484 lb) and females weigh about 97.7 kg (215 lb).

5 Gorillas have been long time advocates of the inclusion of a super heavyweight class in the UFC. (see above)

You think low-blows from stray kicks are brutal in MMA? Here's a gorilla fact...

One of their favorite ways to attack you, or another ape, is by biting your genitals off. You can't compete for the females, after they swallow your junk whole.

They will chew your hands/feet off first. Then bite your junk off. Then they like to bite your skull open and eat your brain. Think Mike Tyson, if he had the teeth and jaw strength enough to chew railroad ties to splinters.

Wait, are there posters on here ignorant enough to think that they could physically compete with a gorilla?

Christ, if Velasquez, arguably the toughest open weight class human being, were locked in a cage with a 265 white tailed stag, I'd bet it all on the deer, let alone a goddamn silverback gorilla.

This killed me. Fantastic, SON, and amen. Phone Post 3.0

Anybody kinda amazed we're the apex predator? Gorillas, sabre-tooths, bears...etc.

in the cage it's a different story; human via DQ every damn time.

Higher-Brain > stronger muscles and bigger teeth.
If you think about it, we would not be the apex predator, if we weren't weaker/slower with worse vision, worse sense of sense smell, worse hearing, smaller claws. etc. etc.

The reason the shark doesn't evolve, is because it isn't forced to (it's too much of a perfect eater, natural selection doesn't effect it much anymore). We got smart, because we would have been eaten otherwise.

We created weapons and hunt in packs with more cooperation and complex language. Phone Post

^Plus once we created spears and bow's arrows we became able to kill very well at range, nevermind guns. Phone Post

Whereas if the mutation roulette wheel had given us the fastest running speed, or the best vision/smell/hearing, we would still be living in the jungles of Equatorial Africa with the great apes (if Cromagnunman hadn't wiped us out). We would be lucky to have discovered fire or anything other than the use of basic tools (like chimps using twigs to fish for ants/termites).

Only 5 of them?

j/k, i like your thread.

Also, a gorilla's preferred style would be Capoeira. Have seen videos of silverbacks using kicking attacks (most people don't know that gorillas will kick you, like a kangaroo), and they're brutal. Rattle a heavy steel door. etc.

Gorilla throws a JBJ style low push kick. Was just a play kick with nothing on it from a small gorilla though.

Here a baby gorilla does the Street Fighter style upside down spinning tornado kick.

Safety glass at zoos is pretty strong. But gorillas can and do break it. They do it with kicks though, not their big arms.
