Hey allchokedup - Yes , 1. BJJ gets easier if you can find YOUR game , watch what people do and it's cool to "borrow" but you have to have your own style . 2. MASTER the positions , learn them inside and out . Learn what options are available from each of the positions for both you and your opponent . If you master the positions submissions will just present themselves right before your eyes . 3. Don't get hung up on submitting people and or not getting submitted Get HUNG up on DOING JIU-JITSU ! Of course when you see opportunity you have to take advantage but more importantly focus on moving and flowing . 4. You should at least try 2-3 Competitions you don't have to set out to be a world champion or anything but you should test yourself once in a while . Use tournaments as training tools to measure your progress. 5. Have fun and good luck bro
Hey marcp13 , it took me about 9 years . The biggest tourning point in my training is when i decided to compete more ! Believe it or not the more i competed the more BJJ started to make sense to me
congrats! And ignore the UG, normally its full of white belts and blue belts who stopped training YEARS ago but somehow they can evaluate higher level belts skills, lol.
