Couldn't say for sure, but in my experience that was when some of the things learned as a yellow belt started to work in randori with some regularity.

be glad it wasn't brown, seriously. I feel like I was thrown to the wolves when I got that thing.

That being said, I look forward to tossing you butt-floppers!

just because you ordered a belt over the internet and it finally came in the mail doesn't mean that you can come on here and say "I got my yellow belt tonight". Yeah, technically you may have "gotten" it (in the mail), but I doubt that you train under a legit instructor.

To tell you the truth, the moves taught at white belt to green are the ones most used and seen in Worlds and Olympic Competitions. They are also the most hardest to master. Especially Uchimata, Seoinage, Osotogari. They need to be combined with sweeps like deashibarai, kouchi, ouchigari.

wait a second, you got your yellow belt? how old are you, 12?

I didn't know there was a yellow or orange belt. I went straight to green.

seniors usually go straight to brown, sometimes green....

shorty, put down the haterade and slowly back away. Thanks for the congrats guys, Judo is awesome and I'm having a lot of fun. Not sure how the belts work but I got my yellow last night and I will throw you on your fucking head like it's alright.

no hate man....

just us old men usually go straight to brown

I was saying you are lucky you can still compete in the non-BB div's.

I don't know what I was in a rush for.

In the USA, the adults only have white-green-brown then black. They have degrees in between. The rest of the countries just follow the standard european color system which is white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black.

I live in the US & I'm an old man too. I don't know anything about Judo belts but I wouldn't wear a brown one. I think Yellow is more indicative of my current "skill" level.

Depends entirely on which political body your instructor is affiliated with. I'm more familliar with USJA, and adult belts in that organization go white, yellow, orange, green, brown, black. These are all with required time in rank plus extensive demonstration + written exams for testing. Unfortunately, belts in Judo do not always reflect skill like they do in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Isn't this why they start teaching De Ashi Barai at like white belt...LOL...you can finally use it when you get to brown.

Really though I would think you would go to at least green or blue based on your Bjj. You can't be completly ignorant to Judo Style takedowns or postures or breakfalls....hell even if you are you are probably familiar with wrestling type takedowns.

And I don't say this as someone questioning you but rather the instructor.
