Got to speak with Jordan Peterson.

Clarified a few questions I still had after Rogan podcast with him. https://youtu.be/Zh0RKzIJfYA

Such mealy-mouth mumbo jumbo.

Yes I know, "you're just not intelligent to understand it"

Peterson strikes me as a guy who is too clever for his own good and doesn't actually make any practical or helpful points for making society better.

Really?

I kind of see the opposite. Like insisting people tell the truth, start small and organize your life before you try to stretch out farther to heavilly effect wider society, understand the value of stories that have traveled throughout history in multiple cultures, trying to get to see the value of those who have other perspectives, pointing out the dangers of ideological possession, etc, etc.

I'd say his self authoring programs alone would qualify as that. Getting people to write a plan for themselves as if they were writing it for a person they care about as well as learn to manage their own baggage...well that sounds helpful. Seriously I wish somebody sat me down and insisted I do that when I was 17.

Then again you might just be trolling...

He's a great speaker and has some fantastic arguments.

His sole focus on individulaism is going to do nothing but separate us more and make it easier for our enemies to win and Western civilisation to fall.

You might think I'm being crazy but the West is under attack and we need to be come together to save it.

Peterson's disdain for the collective and focus on individualism is exactly the opposite of what the West needs right now.

Respect for the individual is kind of a foundation of western society.

This is kind of like saying the only way to save the republic is to create an emperor.

Though I think folks like you might be the most effective tool to promote what Peterson is saying.

If you promote a shitload of identity groups and whip them up in a tribal frenzy towards the goal of attacking a supposed enemy, you will almost without question create a reactionary backlash within those groups you're attacking.

This is inevitable. It's also brutally stupid. First off, because collectivism is kind of stupid by its very nature. It's merely a survival instinct of social animals that apparently can be fairly easily manipulated by influential people.

Second, it's specifically stupid because the left will clearly be the side that loses this conflict in the end. You should listen to Peterson and Weinstein talk about this on Rogan...weinstein points this fact out, that their isn't a biological basis for the left's coalition to stay together long term if they achieve power. It's also clear at least here in the US the identity driven left doesn't have the majority support of the military, the police, the working class, or of men in general....basically this is a really really really bad fight to pick if you plan on taking it to the extreme.

Knowing that however, I'm not going to support identity pimps, nor am I going to support an inevitable backlash to said pimps that advocate similar means. None of this is necessary, and I don't think the tipping point to convincing the western world much of this is utter nonsense is that far out.

Yeah... you should watch more of his videos. You're coming off as stupid.

He shows how all the fables and stories throughout history have psychological significance as metaphorical representations of the human psyche.

Yeah, he's a big advocate of Jung and Campbell. Same science that the elite use to control society.

Anyone have a good FAQ or synopsis on his main ideas? I don't have time for a rabbit hole journey through youtube.

Take responsibility for your life. Stop being a victim. Work hard. Look for meaning and attempt to understand how it relates to your life. Use the things you know to make the world a better place.

Common sense is now enough to be a world famous philosopher? Thanks for the synopsis.

There's a thread on the OG from the other day which posted his rules for life, should be able to find it in a quick thread search. I think it was titled Jordan Peterson's 42 rules for life...good starting point there
