I saw this fight live. I think the dude was a karate bb but not sure. The dude was cocky as fuck and thought he was going to knock joe out when he closed the distance for the clinch.
The dude's gf was watching from outside the room through the window and was screaming with every thump. Those elbows were fucking death blows
They gave the dude another chance and let him pick his next fight. He chose Mark Baurmeister who jabbed the dude in the nose a few times before he quit

Ever check any of the Gracies' or Machados' competition records in freestyle wrestling or sambo? They didnt do too shabby. Also, the Gracie Challenge was something accepted by other stylists who would then show up at the Gracie Academy to fight. Dojo storming was a whole different deal, but there is a video floating around of Royler and maybe Rickson and Royce going to a Judo club and wrecking shop. (I think this is the one with Rickson getting thrown by Heyward Nishioka perhaps?)
Plus why would they invade a wrestling camp? That wasn't their competition as far as students go. They were proving the efficacy of jiujitsu against other martial arts(and im not putting wrestling down by saying this), not sports. If freestyle wrestling academies existed and were producing fighters and claiming their supremacy, then I'm sure they would have been on the agenda.
Thats not to say that the Gracie's never had any interaction w high level wrestlers. Rickson trained w Rico Chiaperelli and one of the Schultz's I believe.

I was impressed. Impressed that karate boy had a high-top-fade with colored tips ! And his chubby self walked into the Academy and asked for a fight ! And he took a beating like a man !!

Is it not impressive that a purple belt in Joe Pardo handily defeated a black belt in a different style? Its not like they threw Rickson out there at some random dude. The whole point is to show that someone that only knows the bare minimum of jiujitsu can at the very least defend themselves without being seriously hurt in an altercation.In this case, the jiujitsu guy was a purple belt, experienced but by no means an expert, and easily defeated someone that had trained in their respective style long enough to achieve the black belt.

Uhhh, did you not read the original post or my post? That wasnt a Gracie, that was Joe Pardo, a purple belt.
He sunk some pretty good shots because Karate Joe held onto to that failed choke for so long. He was pissed :-)
