so how did the nov 12 event go?

^i don't know. i wasn't there. maybe someone here can chime in.

ttt

I dont think the rules are as big a deal as the fact that schools boycotted last years event. THAT is a major problem. Cool set of rules but if only 80 people show up to the tournament it kind of sucks for the competitor.
Hope that BS of boycotting certain tournies stops.

wat?

why the reason for the boycott?

(i wasn't there last year)

ttt

Do you think it was actual boycott? Or do you think that many top grapplers just have a somewhat planned schedule at this point of what competitions they ramp up for?...Could just take a while for that to change.

I have competed in this tournament in the past and the complaint that I had about it was that it is one of the more expensive tournaments and I felt it was poorly run. I also know a lot of other people feel this way about this tournament but what I've never heard before was any schools boycotting it.

SleepBomb -
forumnewb - i just got an email from rose gracie and she confirms that it will be 15 min/sub only (both competitors get eliminated if no one secures a sub), and no time limits for finals.

then that is not real sub only. us grappling does real sub only

some dude coudl know he would get subbed so he can just go into pure defense mode.

So what? If your opponent is that scared of you then you need to make something happen. Besides most of these sub only things only go like 8 or 9 minutes any ways. I've been to several and while my first one I had a few epic matches generally they weren't any longer than a gym roll.

The good ol underground..... =)
Tests were perfect and I feel like I am finally doing something that makes a positive difference in this sport.
here are the final rules for the adults .... Except that I will allow black belts to do whatever they want so there are no restrictions for those guys.

POINTS

There are no points or advantage points calculated for any positions/moves.

MATCH LENGTH

All Matches - 15 min
Finals - no time limit

MATCH OUTCOME

SUBMISSION
An athlete must submit their opponent to win the match and advance in the bracket.

TIE
In case of a tie neither athlete will advance in the bracket.

Remember that the essence of Jiu-Jitsu is self defense. If one competitor attacks the whole time they are amazing for doing so. If the opponent defends the entire time and was never submitted, that makes them amazing for surviving and defending themselves well in the name of Jiu-Jitsu. Therefore in the case of a tie both competitors will be out of the event. They both survive to live another day =)

ILLEGAL SUBMISSIONS

These submission attempts will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification.
