I was deep in the heart of Skyrim upon the release of GTAV and had to pull it out of my 360 to switch gears. I haven't played enough yet to offer my opinion but who do you think does a better open world game to suit your tastes? I find myself comparing them throughout my play. 
APPLES AND ORANGES IMO.
GTA'S WORLD HAS FAR BETTER DETAIL AND WAY MORE REALISTIC. SKYRIM IS MORE IMMERSIVE IN TERMS OF SPEAKING WITH EVERYONE AND HAVING MORE PERSONAL CONVERSATIONS.
GTA 5 is probably the greatest game ever made.

Even if you considered it apples and oranges, which it's not, and I figured some might say, you can still say whether you prefer the apple or the orange right? I just think they have differences is all, not uncomparable. Both are trying to create an immersive open world. Who does the better job?
Skyrim.
Haven't played gta 5, but I always preferred elder scrolls/fallout games to gta. It's the rpg elements I like. 
Definitely miss being able to converse with the other people. But like that I can annihilate people without worrying about messing up the world or quests. People talk shit in Skyrim and I have to take it. People talk shit in gta and they get smoked.
lol the best part of conversations in Skyrim is when the guards talk down to you. HEY BITCH I KILLED DRAGONS!!! hahahaha
Can you take control of gang territory like in San Andreas? I liked that aspect back in the olden days.

This is why I think GTA V is better. I don't have time for people to talk to me and piss me off. I got planes to steal, cars to jack, money to make, drugs to do, and strippers to get lap dances from. If don't like you in the game, your gonna get shot mutha fucka!!!

If Bethesda did a modern day game with guns and cars, with their level of depth it would be unreal. With the deeper rpg elements.

Yep
I found Skyrim too repetitive. Those dwarven ruins for instance, very long and mundane. It's a completionists nightmare. And for someone who's a loot whore like myself that game can give you a brain aneurysm. The amount of hours I wasted walking super slowly because I didn't want to give up my precious loot would be embarassing to see.
