graplers quest or naga

WHATS BETTER?

Both have their plusses and minuses

What are the specific differences?  My team has been to plenty of NAGA events; I've always wanted to do a Grapplers Quest but they are always so far away.  Still, I'd like to know what to expect if we make the long drive, any insight you can share would be appreciated.

Adam,

They are very similar in many ways, although I feel that the rules are a little better in GQ. NAGA's points for submission attempts is cool, but sometimes the refs take it overboard and give points for sloppy submission (or no points for close attempts). Also NAGA has the takedown rule where if the guy knocks you down and you spring right back up, it still counts as a takedown. GQ's rule is that after taking the opponent down you must secure the position (I like this much more).

One thing I do like about NAGA is that they let you compete in multiple divisions... GQ does not allow that. So +1 to NAGA for that one. But GQ normally finishes much earlier in the day than a NAGA event, which is always cool.

I also feel that GQ has better superfight divisions nowadays, but that is just my personal feeling. I'm sure some people would disagree with me on that.

I think that the reffing is equal in both GQ and NAGA. Some of their refs are awesome, while some need a little work.

I've been to plenty of GQ's and NAGA's and feel that they are both awesome... can't go wrong with either one IMO.

Cool, thanks for the info.
