GREAT Seminar - Draculino

Just finished a two day seminar with Vinicius "Draculino" Mehalhes (probably horribly misspelled all but his nickname).

70 euro for two 3 hour days (gi and no gi) and the thing I liked most about it was that although it was in the "new techniques from brazil" category the techniques themselves were fairly decent percentage moves based on fundamental movements. I am always one for mastering the basics, but his approach worked for this seminar because there wasn't any fluff - accept at the end of the gi day where he showed a wierd Nino Shembri armlock thingy where your opponent has YOU in side control.

Very impressed, and it was apparent that he must've done a million other seminars as it ran very polished.

Anyone else been to his seminars?

I've not been to any of his seminars but his book is really good.

I have had the chance to train with him a couple of times when he has visited Roger Gracie's academy (Normally when he has a guy fihgting in cage rage). I really liked his teaching style and learned a lot from him. He is also a really cool guy.

He was here in Spain:

Sounds good. Based on the currency, I assume you're not in Canada anymore. I'm the guy who came to your workplace in downtown Toronto and picked up those computers awhile back.

I remember you!

Yeah, the price is pretty reasonable - no I'm not in Canada at the moment (how'd you guess?)

PS: How are those computers working out?

CockneyBlue - Did you train anywhere else in England? The reason I ask is I trained in quite a few places about 3 years ago. London Shootfighters, BTT with Ronaldo Campos, Tokei Wrestling - would I ever have seen you?

Nope, only trained at the Roger Gracie Academy and Budokwi (sp?). I also trained Muay Thai at Bill Judd's KO gym in Bethnal Green.

Might have seen you at competitions. I know a few of the London Shoot guys as well.

I went to Budokwai many years ago when Chen taught a few classes there. It was one of those times when I only managed to get enough time to train for a few months and had to drop it for a while because of various responsibilities. From what I remember, Chen is a fraud too (lol) - but back then there was only him I think - oh it's all so hazy now.

The last competition I went to in the U.K was the first Gracie Invitational in London organized by Walder I think?? Around 3 years ago I guess?

I got gold in the under 187lb category white belt - Royce even reffed one of my matches.

cool, you were competing a bit before my time then, we probably know a bunch of the same people though.

I only went to Budokwai to train with Jude Samuels when he needed to cover the lessons there.

Very small room downstairs led to some interesting cage style escapes

The computers are working out well as far as I've heard. My nieces are using them for homework assignments and such. Thanks again...I guessed that you were out of Canada since you said that the seminar cost you "euro" as opposed to "dollars".....Sounds like things are well with you.

Hey Rob, James here from Ronaldo's, hope you and the mrs are well

Hey James!! We're doing well but sorely miss the U.K - we hope to move back there sooner than later. How's Ronaldo's class doing?

You still training regularly?
