I change my 6-10 P4P ranking all time list pretty regularly. My top 5 is consistent though. I'm always reading new things and learning about the sport changing my list. Mickey Walker could be on it. Sam Langford as well. Several others.
DanTheCan - I really like your pound for pound list. I don't think Muhammad Ali belongs there however. Thanks man. Ali is famous for proclaiming he was the greatest and people remember that and it does affect their opinion of him. To be fair you could make an argument for him being the GOAT. Not a good one but it can be made. He's probably the best known fighter ever that helps.
Jack Johnson and Bon Fitzsimmons were great they could be on that list. I actually think Jackson might've been greater than Louis. His resume is great.
DanTheCan -I'd pick Ali over Louis. Joe was great I have nothing but good things to say about him but I think Ali stop's him. I'd actually pick a few over Louis H2H.Stern - Jack Johnson and Bon Fitzsimmons were great they could be on that list. I actually think Jackson might've been greater than Louis. Joe had A power for sure.
Dempsey
Marciano

Shavers
Lyle
Cooney
Tyson
Morrison
Lennox
Tua
Klitschko brothers
All those guys as well
Always feel like shavers doesn't quite have the achievements to go with his power moniker.
Although I'm in no position to argue with the ridiculous array of testimonials.

I think Mike Tyson in his prime was the best heavy weight boxer to ever live

Than you need to post less and watch more boxing.

I really strongly disagree. PFP is and always has been a marketing tool, so it is based on subjectivity. But if you are going to try rank guys, I think you do it on accomplishments and not potential, skill or physical attributes. No one really had a better career than Ali did. Only Joe Louis can say he fought in bigger fights. Ali did was as clutch as they came and fought in the best era of HW boxing ever.
BTW, You'll probably never see another era where big men are the best in boxing again. Big men play other sports now. Boxing is for small guys who are too small too play football and basketball. And too poor. If you go through history it seems like the most down trodden people typically grow up to produce the best boxers. Which is why you are seeing Eastern Block guys that are so good right now. They know suffering. In the US, the poor aren't really poor. They are coddled. At least for now, until the wheels come off

buddie -I always wondered how boxing would be shaped differently if the USSR and Cuba allowed their guys to turn pro. I mean it's very possible the best HW of the 70's was Stevenson and Savon the 90's. Russia had that Igor something guy that was really good that beat Stevenson 2xDanTheCan - I really like your pound for pound list. I don't think Muhammad Ali belongs there however.
