Does anyone else feel like this?
It feels like even the normal "joe blow" is out to screw someone these days. Businesses such as comcast & sprint are raising their rates, putting sneaky fees in their contracts, employing sneaky tactics to get more revenue as well as skimping on service.
Are what in a time where greed is just an all time high? Where the average person is cut throat and just out for themselves? Where people no longer care about the community or about each other?
Im seeing it everywhere these days and its disheartening. Im wondering if its just me or are you guys seeing it too?
Its even as far as pizza shops and taxi cabs.
Banks are another HUGE culprit. Credit card companies, used car dealers....
Just everywhere. Dog eat dog world out there.
It has always been like this to a certain degree but just seems like its the worst that it has ever been these days. Our culture seems to perpetuate it.
Greed is good.
Greeed.
Greed for a lack of word is good
I see it as more of corporations trying to get every penny out of profits. Hiring less people and charging more. Att and directv are two of the worst. Fitting they merge.
Even Eggs are greedy nowadays

Good response.
I really do not think people are any more or less greedy than they ever have been.
Romans gave people exactly enough food so they wouldn't starve to death or rise up while piling up enough to completely marble and gold leaf their houses. Is that any different than CEOs of your Fortune 500?
HardWorkPersonalAccountability - greed is definitely at an all-time high
the poor keep demanding more for doing nothing
It is out of control. I am a teacher and do combat sport lessons and performance training on the side for a fraction of the going rate. I don't like getting ripped off ;therefore,I refuse to charge rip off prices. I want people to leave their session feeling they got more than there moneys worth.
I ,on the other hand, feel ripped of with just about any purchase I make.
Its odd I was just talking about this last night.
The younger kids just getting out of highschool are SO much more focused on the whole rather than themselves as individuals.
The older workers I have are much more particular about, that's not my job, not working days off, working late coming in early etc...
Where as younger workers completely go along with whatever, for the good of the whole, even at the detriment of themselves.
Some of that is obviously simply older workers have responsibility and younger kids not so much. But I have definitely noticed younger workers have been taught compliance, and dont buck the system.
I don't think people are greedier than in the past.
Today there are more choices out there for people so companies use BS marketing to get you to sign up. Like comcast instead of saying their service is $70/month will say it's $50/month. Then of course you have a connection fee, modem fee etc. They do this because Verizon or Frontier will send you a letter saying you can get the same service with them for $49/month.
Back in the 70's when I was growing up you had one communication company in your neighborhood and that was it. You used one of the baby bells or whoever for you phone. There was no competition until the 80's that I can remember for long distance etc.
Look at the airlines, they will do pretty much anything to sell a ticket. Now they're starting to charge for carry on bags etc.
alkysmurf - Its odd I was just talking about this last night. That's completely different than what I've experienced. It seems like the younger guys at my job want to question everything and are lazy as fuck. The younger generation to me doesn't put enough into their jobs.

Fitting they merge. All to satisfy investors...and everyone's retirement is in some kind of 401k, so we need them to keep fucking us so they can make all these earnings so our funds will grow and we'll be able to retire.
