IMO this is ufc politics/nepotism at its worst (ie there is no Friggin way those two deserve the main event at this time). I'd like to see a yearly tournament format for the ufc, in which each weight class begins and ends in its own month. Then they could do something like, oh, I don't know, have the fighters who are highest on the ladder get the main event/title shot?
CRE in 5...4...3...2...1
Anderson vs. Belfort is the main event.
It's on the card after. In any case, they shouldn't get the co-main EITHER!
*Co-main event. My point still remains, though.
Really? Despite the fact that it's the CO MAIN event, you don't think two former champions deserve it? It's not like it's two bums co-maining...it's the former middleweight champion vs the former light heavyweight champion.
They're always going to have "names" as the main and co main, the whole point of even having a co main event is to draw more viewers for the card.
they are popular american fighters, both with big fan bases. tenners gonna ten.
The two most important words there are "former" and "sell." the main and co main events should be for title fights and for leading contenders.
10ers gonna 10

Why? What's so important about being the "co-main event". It's a term created specifically to make something sound more important than it is, it's really just the fourth fight on the televised portion of the card. So it's perfectly acceptable for proven fighters like Griffin and Franklin to be the 4th fight of the televised card
Okay, how about the Franklin vs Liddell fight, which was the main event? Maybe the fans should just vote on their favourite fighters and the rest can be pushed onto the undercard. IMO the main and co main should be for titles and contenders only. MMA is the only pro sport that doesn't use a ladder.
*This would also offer greater rewards to people that win fights--and on the same note, even though Vitor is amazing and a legend, he should have to climb the ranks before he gets a title shot. Equal opportunity for legends and no-names, and the cream will rise to the top.
It's idiots like the TS who give 10ers a bad name.
Good co main event for an excellent card IMO.
where's CRE at ?
Yeah you're right; it's not about someone's current status as a fighter, the co-main should be all about past achievements and popularity. In fact, I don't see why they have to fight when we could all vote and pick our favourite. And, we should vote on who makes the playoffs in the other sports. Hell, let's just script the whole damn thing so that Tito, Franklin, Griffin and Liddell can actually generate a win streak (which is their only chance).
Past achievements and popularity? Forrest was a champion all of 2 years ago! Should he not be given any precedence on a card anymore because he's no longer champ? He wins one or two more fights, and hes getting another title shot, stfu with your idiocy.
BTW, Tito wasn't the co-main in his most recent fight. He was the 2nd televised one.
And yes, I am right. Co-Main is about past achievements and popularity. It's the co-main specifically to get people to buy the card if they don't believe the main event is enough.
Andddd Vitor's on a 5 fight win streak, STFU with having to climb the ranks...the man is a multiple time champ

Co main event sells fights. Griffin/Franklin are names, and they do sell. Jones vs Bader is also on that card. There is your fight with two new contenders climbing the ladder towards a title, they are not the co-main event because they do not have the name recognition with casuals and will not sell as well as Griffin/Franklin. Who cares what order the fights are in...126 is an awesome card. There are many cards where you could have made this point much more convincingly.
th struve/corky co-main was questionable but youre complaining about franklin/griffin? really? dude this is a dream fight that will be turning points in each mans respective careers. come on man. try harder.
Better than Leben vs Stann
If you are really going to have something bad to say about a card with these fights on it, you are probably a member at the wrong forum
Anderson vs Belfort
Rich vs Forrest
Jones vs Bader
Torres vs Banuelos
Stout vs Kelly
Kid vs D Johnson
Who gives a shit what order the fights are in? I want to see all of those, even if Anderson vs Belfort is on the Spike prelims and Kid vs Johnson is the PPV main event.
