                    <blockquote>

Georges St-Pierre has heard people's gripes that he doesn’t finish enough fights. And one of the best MMA fighters to ever grace the cage isn’t just OK with them.

“I agree with the criticism,” St-Pierre told The Post by phone Wednesday. “I want to do better. I want to give more entertainment to the fans.”

“'Ive been training to jump more on opportunites that are open to me,” St-Pierre said. “I’m still gonna fight my fight, but I’m going to be more opportunistic.”

St-Pierre, 31, says it bothers him that people keep talking about a potential fight between him and pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva. Silva’s camp has repeatedly harped on that fight sometime next year and UFC president Dana White said it is a real possibility if St-Pierre beats Condit.

“I hate that,” St-Pierre said. “They talk to me about the next fight and I’m not there. Like I’m supposed to win easy, like it’s a joke. Carlos Condit is a dangerous guy. I always respect my opponent. My life is on the line.”

respect

So much respect to GSP for saying that.

Especially after hearing other fighters who constantly fight to decisions talk down on fans who want finishes and act confused when the crowd boo's a boring performance. Phone Post

I don't agree with the criticism, he fights tough guys and you can't always get a finish. The only legit boring fight imo was the Kos fight, but when you realise that GSP was blind in one eye for most of it its hard to hold it against him.

Blind in one eye vs Kos?

I think you mean the Sheilds fight.

I love GSP as a fighter but totally understand all the flack. With that said though even though he should have finished Kos given he blinded him there was something immensely satisfying with how he basically punished and abused him for 5 rounds and put Kos on the shelf for 6 months. Kos even complains still to this day how his face is permanently screwed u feeling wise on that side of his face.

Here's hoping we do see a little more Rush in the future. Phone Post

Pretty sure it was Koscheck who was blind for that snoozer.

Then GSP was blind for the Shields snoozer.

No one was blind for the Hardy snoozer.

GSP has agreed with the criticism for a while now.

If only his fanatics could just come to terms with it too, the world would be a better place :)

Fitched is right. GSP has been saying, "I want to finish more fights." Then he goes in and point fights for 5 rounds. He blinds Kos in round 1 and has 4 rounds to get the finish but refuses to pull the trigger.

He has so much weight on his shoulders and so much pressure to win, that he refuses to take chances to finish. He's pissed at himself immediately after the fight for not getting the finish, but he never actually does anything different for the next one.

Hopefully this time is different. Phone Post

Fans don't bash him for being boring, they bash him because of what he did to their hero BJ Penn and that is the only thing they can say negative about him so they harp on it relentlessly and never let go

How about when you realize Kos was the one who was blind for 4 rounds of the fight and GSP still couldn't finish him?

I thought the Hardy fight was awesome. GSP just didn't do that armbar right. Phone Post

What part of the fight was awesome? The part in between rounds when Greg is telling him to not even attempt to pass Hardy's guard until there's only 30 seconds left? That fight was nothing but positional dominance and playing it safe.

BTW, much respect to GSP for what he said about the criticism.

How about you realize that guy obviously meant the Shields fight and not the Kos fight?

Anyway, the criticism of GSP not finishing guys is just stupid. He fights better competition that anyone. Anyone. That point alone is enough, but not only that, basically all the guys he went the distance barely made it out of the 1st rounds without getting finished.

Also he shuts down Kos who taunted him the entire TUF season with a striking clinic, broke his face and proved he was a better mma wrestler for the 2nd time, and you idiots are bashing him because he didn't get the finish?

This thread is about GSP, not Koscheck. For a blind guy...he did try and throw some bombs and take GSP down. He just failed.

No one in this thread is bashing him. You need to relax a little. It is just criticism, and no one is being terribly insulting at all in this thread.

GSP accepts it, I think it's time his fans like yourself accept it too.

^ never said anyone in this thread was.

GSP accepts it because he's obviously extremely humble, if you watched any footage of him at all you should be able to understand that. IMO he could have been more aggressive in the Shields fight, but that's as far as I would go with criticism.

Well sure you did...

You quoted a poster in this thread who was being critical and said:

"and you idiots are bashing him because he didn't get the finish?"
Soooooo yeah. Just relax a little. :)

He was (in many many peoples opinions) too safe and cautious in all of his last 3 fights.

Yup I think he's one of the top ambassadors for the sport ... Phone Post

Gives me the warm and fuzzies. I can't wait for the fight!
