In many interviews Georges has credited his wrestling abilities to Karate. Timing/movement and capitalisation of your opponents mistakes epitomises karate, and GSP's style.
Different way to look at it. He must have some gained some kind of footwork too, I suppose.
Newaza freak - What rank is it In Kyokushin where he has<br>To perform a 100 man kumite and will GSP ever try it? <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Did I see this on fight quest? <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Yeah it was a mini- Kumite though. Doug and Jimmy only had to fight 5 guys [one of them looked like Glaube Feitosa. I'm not if it was him though]Major credit to Doug and Jimmy doing a 5 man Kumite though.
"The winner shall be determined on full point (IPPON) or at time one half point (WAZA-ARI). Two half points awarded will constitute one full point."
Yes. Half point (Wazari) is for knocking someone down or temporarily rendering them unable to fight, where they are ready to fight again within a few seconds (3-5 seconds depending on organization) .
Full point (Ippon) is for knocking someone out or making them unable to fight for a longer period of time.
Noone gives a crap about how many times you hit, or how good the hits looks -if the opponent goes down -they score points, if the opponent keeps going they do not.
Thereby my comment " In kyokushin you score point by knocking people down and out.".

Not disagreeing with you sir. I was reinforcing your point.

In that case ok. but please be aware that anyone who drags up karate kid characters/events in forums, and comparing them to kyokushin/other real karate, are not going to be given the benefit of a doubt.
I think that MMA should judge striking somewhat the same. Not on how many strikes thrown or landed but how effective they were. As far as damage and knockdowns. Quality over quantity. Knockdowns should score as much or maybe more then takesowns. Damage > control
