I know Crossfit does handstand pushups in their WOD a lot, but those are usually done near a wall for your feet to touch to keep balance...kids good, gymnasts have crazy strength and balance.

That kind of stuff is why I put my kids into gymnastics.I thought they would do it for a couple of years and then put that training to use in other sports.Little did I know they would love it and it would take over my life.

They are 11 and 10 and can do all kind of stuff like that in addition to crazy stuff on the equipment.My daughter can stand on her hands and alternate touching her nose with each hand over 500 times in a row without falling! She is freaking crazy strong.She will be a level 8 gymnast this season and qualified for regionals as a level 7 last year.Won 2 events at state and took second in another.

My son will be a level 7 this year and can hit handstands on parallel bars repeatedly like its nothing. He made the Jr regional team out of 6 states.It is the top 12 kids from the 2 youngest age divisions from level 6.Over 100 kids qualified out of those ages but only the top 12 made it.He won 2 events at state and took 2nd in another.

Just thought I'd brag about my kids for a minute...and let you guys know what gym can do for a kid!

The handstands he does on parallel bars start from a stradle position with his legs outside of arms but not touching the bar,he presses into handstand and holds it for a 2 count before returning to stradle and presses back up and repeats this for like 10 reps.
